RESIDENT EVIL: EVIL NEVER DIES They were back. After six months of wondering, of hoping, and of praying it was over...it wasn't. It was starting all over again. They were back in Raccoon City. They were back in Raccoon Forest. They were back in the very place in which this nightmare all began, in the very place in which the nightmare would hopefully come to an end. Who knows what the future will hold. Only two major questions remain; who will survive, and who will come out on top? Both are the main questions haunting the souls of every remaining person, well, the only known remaining people. No one actually knows if Leon is still alive, but they're not thinking about that right now. Another extremely important question is, who is the leader of Umbrella? Only time, patience and bravery shall determine that, as the only known remaining five people, Claire, Chris, Jill, Barry, and Rebecca fight for their lives...again! The forest was mostly silent, except for their breathing. It was a foggy night, just like that night back in July. It was almost exactly a year ago, when they went into this forest to investigate the murders. There was a slight breeze in the warm, still night air. But not even one cricket was chirping, which only meant bad things were ahead. What made it even more disturbing was the fact that it was a clear sky, and that made the full moon visible, the only clouds the ones of fog that lay in their path. Claire - "How, how the hell could this be happening again? It doesn't seem possible. We killed Alexia and Alfred, and they were a big part of Umbrella." Chris - "Just because they're dead doesn't mean anything. They weren't the only people of Umbrella left. Remember, Wesker's still alive. I know he's not part of Umbrella, but he's still a huge threat. And there are bosses and higher ups at Umbrella." Jill - "Chris is right, we have to face this. It is happening again. It actually shouldn't be that hard to believe." Barry looked up and around, then began to say, "I still remember this place like it just happened." Everyone turned to look at him. "I mean, how could anyone ever forget a place like this? It's where the first murder of this whole thing first occurred. All of the murders started happening in this forest. And it's all thanks to Umbrella." Chris - "Yeah, they started this, but we're gonna finish it. We can't let them win." Jill - "The question is, why did they start these 'experiments' in the first place? To purposely create monsters? And if so, why? We never actually found out." Chris - "Still not too sure about that. We don't know why they did it, but we do know they didn't want the viruses to escape. Who knows their real reason for creating the monsters, who knows if they even meant to, but that isn't what we should be worrying about right now, anyway." They all took a few steps forward, leaves crunching beneath their boots. Chris was leading, followed by Jill and Barry, Claire and Rebecca bringing up the rear. Rebecca - "So, what exactly are we supposed to do anyway? Are we looking for something in here?" Just then, three zombies emerge from behind some trees in front of them. Chris - "Well, first we take care of these. Everybody be ready, I'll take the shots, though." Everybody pulled out their guns, ready to attack, and Chris fired three shots at one of the approaching moaning monsters. The first zombie hit the ground, dead, well, dead again, as the other two limped closer and closer. Chris fired a few more shots, decapitating one of them. Everyone put away their guns as the last two zombies lie, bloody, on the leaves. They all walked forward into the forest a few more yards without speaking, and then came to a complete halt. "Wait. Where exactly are we going?" - Claire. Barry, Jill, and Chris all look at each other. Rebecca - "Actually, yeah, I'd like to know that too." "Well, we were thinking we'd go to where the old mansion used to be." - Chris. Jill shook her head, "Yeah, so let's go." "The old mansion? You mean that Spencer place?" - Claire says, puzzled. "Yeah, the one where Umbrella started creating all of these monsters." - Chris. Claire - "But I thought it blew up." Chris - "That's why I said where it was." There was a moment of silence, then a crackling on leaves on the ground, though everyone had stayed still. Barry - "Shhh." From behind, jumped a growling, blood-thirsty zombie dog, baring all of its sharp teeth. Everybody turned around to see what it was. Barry pulled out his handgun to kill it, as another red-eyed dog jumped out from the darkness, and ripped the gun from Barry's hand. "Damnit!" - Barry. Chris then pulled out his gun and began to shoot. He let off eight bullets, some of them not hitting the target, before they both hit the ground. Barry picked his gun back up, which then had blood dripping off from it. Barry also had a deep cut on his right hand, and he could see the teeth marks from the dog. His hand was also bloody now, the sticky liquid dripping off of it like thick raindrops. Chris - "You alright?" "Yeah...I'm fine." - Barry. Then Barry tore off some of his right sleeve, and wrapped it around his bloody right hand, and put pressure on it, to stop the bleeding as fast as possible. Chris - "Just hope you didn't get infected..." Rebecca - "Well, I can't be sure, but I think that maybe only the zombies can infect you. Hope so anyway." Without bothering to speak another word, they continued to walk about another fifty feet, then stopped once again. Chris - "You guys hear that?" They all nodded. There was a crunching of leaves nearby once again. Chris and Barry both pulled out their handguns, and got ready to fire if it was an oncoming threat. The figure stepped out from the darkness of the foggy night, and saw the two guns pointed at him. "Whoa. No, wait. Don't shoot!" It was a man with an accent. "Relax, I know Jill." Jill - "Carlos?" "Yep, it's me. I just came looking for ya to make sure you were still alive, amigo. You know, after everything that happened. And I wanted to help you people put a stop to Umbrella, for everyone they've killed. Plus, I wanted to thank you, because I'm thinking that if it weren't for you, I would've probably died back there. So, thanks for everything." - Carlos. Jill - "You don't have to thank me. I mean, hey, if it wasn't for you being there, I would've died." Carlos - "Well, anyway, what's going on here? What are we gonna do?" Jill - "Well, remember everything that was going on when we met? What am I saying, of course you do. All those monsters and mutated crap like that. Well, that happened before we met, and it's happening again too. It's happened a lot, actually." Carlos - "Damn. Is that monster still chasing after you then?" Jill - "No, we killed it, remember?" "Si, yeah, I remember. I just thought that something like that might have came back." - Carlos. Chris - "Let's just keep on moving." Carlos - "Where we headed?" Jill - "To where the mansion used to be. It's where this whole thing started in the first place." "Oh, ok then, I guess we better go then." - Carlos. "Yep." - Chris. "How far is it to where the mansion was, anyway?" - Claire. Chris - "Uh, pretty damn far I think, I mean, this time we went through Raccoon City and walked into the beginning of Raccoon Forest. But, the mansion was at the foothills of the Arklay Mountains, that's kind of why it was called the Arklay Mansion. The first time we got here, to investigate those murders, we landed toward the edge of the forest, close to the mansion, with our helicopter. But that's obviously not the case this time, like I said before. We're gonna have to probably run, if we want to get there pretty soon." "So do we have to keep saying it? Let's go." - Barry. Rebecca - "Yeah, we better get a move on." They were walking for a little while until Claire questioned their direction. Claire - "Are we even going the right way?" Chris stopped suddenly, and turned to look at Claire, - "I think so. At least we better be, anyway." Rebecca - "Are we lost?" Chris turned and looked at her, - "We're not lost." He paused for a moment and then confirms, "We'll find it, don't worry about it." Barry - "Well yeah, we better find it, and find it as soon as we can." "Anyone got a flashlight?" - Jill. "Um, I do," Carlos replies as he pulls a flashlight from a pocket. Jill - "You just happen to have a flashlight and you didn't tell us that before, you dumbass. Or for you I'll just call you estupido." Carlos - "Hey. No need to get mad, here ya go, Chris." Chris took the flashlight and turned it on, and took out a pair of binoculars to look far off into the forest. Chris - "What the hell?" Claire looked up. "What is it?" "It's a...building?" - Chris. "What kind of building?" - Carlos. "What are you retarded, I mean, aw nevermind. It's just a building, and no, it doesn't say anything on it." - Chris. Carlos - "Oh, ok then." Barry - "Why is there a building out here?" Chris - "No clue, but it's never a good sign." Jill - "How far away is it?" Chris - "Far. I mean, I can barely see it through these binoculars." "Oh, damn." - Jill. Rebecca - "This totally sucks." Barry turned to her. "Yeah, obviously." "We gotta get to that building, and fast. We need to figure out what's going on." - Chris. Claire - "Yeah, no kidding." While the others were talking to each other, Jill heard something and turned around to see what it was. Jill's eyes widened, as she saw a pack of charging dogs running straight for them. Jill screamed - "Run!" The others turned to see why Jill yelled that. "Oh shit. Go, go, go!" - Chris. They all turned back around and started running as fast as they could, adrenaline pumping through them, while having no time to stop and take a breath. They occasionally look back and fired several gun shots at the pack of five dogs, which were now three because they just shot down two of them. As Claire was looking back, she tripped over a fallen branch. She went into the air, and did a flip in mid-air, so she landed on her back, facing the others and not the dogs. Claire - "Shit!" The others stopped running and went back to try to help Claire out. As she struggled to get back on her feet, one of the three dogs jumped at her, aiming for her throat. Luckily, she dodged it by ducking, and the others shot all three dogs dead while Chris helped her get back to them. Chris - "Are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm alright. That was a pretty close call though, I was a little scared. My back kind of hurts, but don't worry about me, cause I'll be fine." - Claire. Chris - "Good, cause I can't lose you." "Well, at least that put us a lot closer to the building." - Jill says, out of breath. Rebecca - "Yeah, at least." Barry - "Kinda ironic though...that's how we got to the mansion in the first place, running from a pack of the dead dogs." They kept on walking, even though they were tired from running. "Chris, check to see how close we are to the building now." - Jill. Chris - "Okay." Chris then pulled out his binoculars and got out the flashlight and turned it on again. He looked into them was surprised by what he saw. "Whoa." Jill - "What?" "You guys aren't gonna believe this." - Chris. He paused and then turned and looked at the others. Chris - "It's the old Spencer mansion. I mean, it's kind of wrecked, but it's still there! At least it looks like the same place." Jill - "But...that's impossible. Didn't that get blown up?" Chris - "Yeah, so what the hell? How the hell's it still standing after that?" They all started wondering and thinking about it to themselves. Claire - "Maybe it's not the same mansion." "What do you mean?" - Rebecca. "Well, maybe Umbrella or whoever set it up like that just to make everybody think the mansion was gone. Maybe there was actually another one to fake everyone out." - Claire. Chris - "You really think they'd bother with that?" "What other explanation is there? Plus, we all know how thorough Umbrella is." - Claire. Barry - "I think you must be right, good thinking." "Yeah, that must be it, but why?" - Chris. "There's probably only one good reason, at least I can only think of one." - Claire. Jill - "Then, why?" Claire - "Because they didn't want anyone to come back here. Maybe they're still here, and they didn't want anyone to find it. I mean it makes sense that no one would look for it since the other one got destroyed. I don't think many people would suspect another mansion was out here." "Yeah, you're probably right. So that they can keep on doing experiments and the like." - Jill. "So, ya think that they're still there, huh? Well we gotta take them out." - Chris. They all looked at each other and then started walking in silence, an eerie silence. All of a sudden there was a flash that brightened up the whole forest for a split-second. "Whoa." - Rebecca. "It's fine, it was just lightning." - Chris said as they kept on walking. Rebecca - "I know, it just surprised me, that's all." Suddenly a voice called out, "Claire!" They all completely froze. They all turned and looked at Claire. Carlos - "What was that?" "I don't know" - Claire. The voice called out again after a minute, "Claire, answer me." Chris - "There it was again." They looked all around. Chris even got out his flashlight and turned it on, then said - "There's nothing." Claire looked down and said, - "Oh my God. It's Leon! I totally forgot that I still had my radio with me...actually I just got it back, good thing." Chris - "Well start talking to him." "I'm about to." - Claire. So she got out her radio and started to talk into it - "Leon, ya still there?" Leon - "Finally, I got my radio fixed." Claire - "That's good news. How's Sherry doing?" Leon - "Oh, you don't know, do you?" Claire - "Know what?" Leon - "She's gone, she got taken by someone. I don't know who, I got knocked out from behind. I don't have any idea where she is." Claire - "Damnit! I can't believe this." "I know. Well, anyway, did Chris get to you on that island safely?" "Yeah, then we both escaped from there. Well, actually we ended up in Antarctica and got out of there...long story." - Claire. "Oh, well then I need to know where you actually are. So, the answer would be?" - Leon. Claire - "We're in Raccoon City, well, specifically Raccoon Forest, headed toward the old Spencer mansion." Leon - "Ok, I'll be there as soon as possible. And whatever you do, don't ever turn off your radio. We need to be able to get a hold of each other at all times, so don't let anything happen to it." Claire - "Yeah, okay." "Well, I gotta go now, I'll see ya as soon as I can get there, bye for now Claire." - Leon. Claire - "Bye Leon." She let go of the talking button and put the radio back. Chris - "Good, we could use him." "Yeah, he could help. Anyway, let's keep walking." - Claire. "Yeah, we're getting closer to the mansion." - Jill. "I think we're just about there." - Barry. "So let's keep going until we get there, no more stops on the way." - Chris. So they just kept on walking, while having a small conversation on the way. Talking about whatever would lighten the mood a bit, and also discussing some things about what to do once they reached their destination. And before they knew it, they were at the entrance of the mansion. Chris - "Well, we're here. Is everyone ready to go inside?" Jill - "Yeah, we're ready." So, Chris started to open the door slowly, not wanting anything to pop out at them; it creaked and had cobwebs on it. They all walked in, and looked around. "Wow, it looks very similar, well, except for some cracks and stuff." - Chris. "Yeah, and it's even creepier than the other." - Jill. They walked around the main room, then heard some creaking. "Where's that sound coming from?" - Barry. Chris - "I don't know. Wait, shhh." Chris looked up, then so did the others. Suddenly, something came crashing through from the ceiling. Rebecca - "What the hell is that?" They all looked at the hideous beast. It was a Krate-digger; a huge, skinless ape half-hidden by bluish mist, which only had slick muscle showing, the eyes covered by blood and peeled over skin. It made a huge sound, - "Mhuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa." Claire - "Oh shit. That can't be friendly." Chris got out his shotgun and shot two times at the creature's head, and it went down. "That's definitely new." - Jill. Barry saw something on a desk on the main room. He walked over and said - "Hey guys, come check this out." They walked over, and it was a report that said the following: Scientists report _______________________________________________________________________ May 18, 1999 We've done some more experimenting with the T-Virus and G-Virus lately, with different animals. When we injected a bear with the virus, a day later it had some major affects. It still had fur, but got bigger and grew two horns out of its head. We named it "Night Demon" because of the fact that if any part of it was in sunlight it would dissolve instantly, just like a vampire would. But we have faith in its creation. ________________________________________________________________________ May 24, 1999 We have done another experiment, but this time, it was with a creature that had already been infected once before, a licker. We found some eggs, since all of the other lickers we found were dead. After the first one hatched we immediately injected it with the T-Virus. In one day, we noticed that its skin had fallen off, leaving pure muscle. The next day, we noticed its eyes. We call them "censor-lickers" because we've discovered the fact that it can see movement, and also they can see right through walls. They are so strong that they can bust through a wall. Though one problem is that they can only see movement, meaning that if a person is standing still, it won't be able to see the target. There are only a few of these creations each, but if given enough time we will make more. ________________________________________________________________________ Claire - "Uh oh. I met up with a couple lickers when I was last here, they aren't too nice." Chris - "The we gotta watch out for those, especially the censor-lickers." "Yeah, but how are we gonna know where they are, or when they see us and are watching us?" - Jill. "Well, we just gotta always be prepared. After all, that is the S.T.A.R.S. motto, expect the unexpected. So, just always be ready and always have your gun ready to fire." - Chris. "Yeah, only we're not with the S.T.A.R.S. anymore." Jill said and winked. While all six of them were checking out that foyer of the mansion, Leon arrived in Raccoon City. It was now midnight. "Hmmm, I need helicopter to get to the mansion. It would take too long to go through the whole forest." - Leon said to himself. He walked down the streets, on his way to the police station that had been rebuilt since Leon and Claire were last there. It had been made a little smaller of course, they obviously didn't want to spend to much time on it. But the main focus on his mind was getting to the mansion, and helping Claire and everybody else. They were all in danger. But also, in the back of his mind, he was thinking about Sherry, and if she was dead or still alive. He hoped to God she wasn't dead, and that she was okay. He had grown attached to her ever since he met her, and tried to protect her. But, he had failed, at least in keeping her. He hoped that Wesker hadn't hurt her, and that he wouldn't. "Well, there's the police department," - Leon mumbled. He walked up the stairs and turned the knob, and entered. He hadn't seen it since all of those horrible things happened. They had apparently remodeled it to look nothing like it did before. He had to focus on the mansion. He walked up to the front desk. "Hello," - he said to the policeman at the front desk. The man looked up, and to Leon's horror, it wasn't a policeman at all, but it was another mindless zombie. He backed away from it and pulled out a gun, he thanked God that he had a gun. He began to shoot at it. It went down after five shots. "Crap," - Leon said, realizing that the whole damn place was probably infested with zombies and monsters, just like before. He looked around, and went through the door in the back of the room, into another room. It was a hallway, it had doors on each side. He thought he saw a staircase at the end of the hall, so he raced down to end. He was just about there when a zombie burst out of one of the doors on the left. It knocked Leon down, and grabbed his leg. Since he already had his gun out and ready, he didn't hesitate to shoot it in its head two times, causing blood and brains to spurt out. Leon looked at it for a minute in disgust, and then continued to dart down the hall. "Yes!" - He said as he reached the end, realizing that it was indeed a staircase. He didn't waste anytime at all. He ran up the stairs two at a time and into the first room he saw. It was a dead end, but did have some useful ammo. So, Leon grabbed the two clips of ammo off of a shelf on a bookcase and then headed back out into the long corridor. He didn't bother looking inside of the second door he saw, but he did however check out the third door on the right. He was very happy with his decision because he had discovered a room with all kinds of weapons and ammo. He then decided this had to be the arsenal. He got a duffle bag and began putting everything he could find in it. He was able to get a shotgun, and some handguns as well. There was one other gun there, a magnum, and Leon gladly took it. He looked and checked and added all the rounds to see how much was there altogether. Leon was truly amazed at how much was actually there; not too many rounds for the shotgun or magnum, but plenty to go along with the three handguns he was able to pick up. He zipped up the bag and left the room. He proceeded into the room on the left. There he found a medical kit. He grabbed that and put it in the bag with the weapons and ammo. He left that room and saw another staircase coming up. When he got there he was about to proceed up the stairs when suddenly he saw something rolling down the stairs. He looked down, and saw a decapitated head lying below him, next to his feet. "Gross." - Leon. He then looked up and saw another zombie coming down the stairs. Then, when he looked around, he saw zombies coming from all ways. Any way he went, he would come face to face with one of the undead beings. He quickly began shooting at the one coming down the stairs, and as he shot it down, it started rolling down the stairs, and the other two were getting really close. He jumped over the one coming and continued running up the stairs, until reaching the top. He then saw a ladder at the end of this hallway, and began to sprint towards it, some how having an instinct that it would lead up onto the roof of the police department, where the helicopter should be. He passed all of the doors on the way. Even when a creature jumped out in front of him, not being sure what it is, he just dodged it, knowing he just had to get to the helicopter, that was his only goal. He put the duffle bag around his shoulder, and started climbing the ladder. He lifted the door at the top with his right hand, and proceeded to climb out. He had been right. "Thank God," he said as he took a breath of fresh night air. He sat down on a guardrail, and rested for only about one minute. He knew what he had to do. He had to get to the mansion as soon as possible, that was his primary goal, and purpose. So he stopped resting after he had caught his breath and got up and headed over to the helicopter. He opened the helicopter's door, and threw the bag into the back. He got into the pilot's seat of the 'copter. He had just enough experience to fly a helicopter, any less and it would've practically been suicide to try to fly it. "Now I'm glad I re-thought it and decided to take the flying lessons," he said to himself as he turned on the engine, the sharp blades began to spin, and he was lifted off of the roof. He had finally taken of, and he was finally on his way. Meanwhile, back at the mansion...Chris - "Find anything, anyone?" Rebecca, Barry, Carlos and Jill all answer with a, "No." Claire - "I did. Three clips of ammo were in the second drawer of the desk." Chris - "Good, we can always use more ammo. I think we should..." His sentence was cut off by a censor-licker that jumped out from the door behind Chris and jumped on his back and took him down. "Damn," - Barry said as he shot at the grotesque creature. Barry killed it after three shots with his favorite magnum, and then Chris was able to get up. "Damn thing." - Chris said. "That was...ugly. But anyway, what were you about to say, Chris?" - Jill. "Oh, almost forgot thanks to that. I was gonna say that I think that we should split up, three people each." - Chris answered. "Oh, ok, if you really think that's a good idea." - Jill. "Yeah, I agree with you Chris. It'd be faster and with three people we'd still be pretty safe." - Barry. "Ok, who's with who?" - Carlos. "Hmmm. Well I was thinking me, Jill, and Carlos, and Claire's with Barry and Rebecca. Agreed?" - Chris. They all give the same answer, - "Yeah." "Ok. Claire, you guys go up onto the second floor and we'll go through that door." Chris said while pointing at the door at the back of the room. Chris then walked up to Barry and pulled him aside. He whispered in Barry's ear, - "Don't let anything happen to Claire." He then walked back to join Jill and Carlos. As they headed toward the door in the back of the room, Chris caught a quick last glance at the others, while focusing mainly on Claire and smiling at her. Claire looked over and caught him, and smiled back. Chris, Jill and Carlos then continued into the hallway, through the door. As Chris and the others faded out of view, Claire, Rebecca and Barry walked up the red-carpeted stairs until they reached the second floor of the mansion. "Which way should we go?" - Rebecca said, looking down the left side, then the right. Barry - "Ummm." "Does it really matter?" - Claire. "Not really. Unless you wanna split up. I could go down the right side and you two could go down the left side." - Barry. Claire looked over at Rebecca and said - "I'll agree to that," looking back at Barry. Then the thought of what Chris said to him when he took him aside went through his mind. 'Don't let anything happen to Claire.' "Uh, nevermind, forget about that idea." - Barry. Claire - "Why?" "Don't worry about why...uh, it's safer with all of us together," - Barry said, not wanting to tell Claire about what Chris had said, thinking that she might think that Chris didn't think that she could take care of herself. Claire reluctantly said, - "Okay, whatever you say, I guess." They headed down the right side of the furnished hallway, which had several paintings and pictures of people that none of them had ever seen before. They just figured that they were pictures of scientists or people that worked for Umbrella. They kept on walking, and came to the door that was at the end of the hallway, and walked into the room that was on the left. Meanwhile, the others were also deciding on which way they should go. Jill tried to open the first door on the left side of the wall, but it wouldn't budge. "Damn, it's locked." - Jill. Then, they all smelled that too familiar stench of rotting flesh. They all turned to look down at the end of the corridor. And they saw one out-stretched arm, then the other one as it turned the corner. It started walking slowly right towards them, it's feet shuffling against the bloodstained carpet. Carlos got out his pistol and fired a single shot, remembering of course to aim at its head. The bullet hit it straight in the throat, letting a pukish type of fluid split out onto the carpet. He fired once more, this time hitting it directly in it's forehead, and immediately killing it. It fell to the floor; it's body twitching and squirming. They then decided to go the way the zombie had come from. So, they walked down the hall with the yellow wallpaper, and turned left at the corner, entering another corridor. They walked down the hall slowly, always ready for anything, and always listening for the sound of shuffling, or anything else for that matter. They chose to enter the door on the right side of the long, dim-lighted hallway. They entered the room and were relieved to find that there weren't any zombies or any other kind of monster lurking in it. There was barely any light, so Chris found the light switch and flipped in on. It was a spacious family room. There was a fireplace on the far right wall, and a small, wooden coffee table next to what looked like a very expensive leather chair. The coffee table had a coke bottle on it, that was half empty, and missing the cap to it. Chris walked over by the fireplace, hoping he would find something useful. And he was right. "These could come in handy sometime later on," - Chris said, as he was picking up a book of matches, and a golden lighter. He flipped the lid off of the lighter to test it, and make sure it did, and sure enough, it did. The warmth of the little flame felt good against his face. He then took his thumb away from it, and the flame went out, and he flipped the lid back on. He put the book of matches and the working lighter into his pack. Chris - "Since I already have a lighter I'll give this one to Claire when we meet back up with them. I also saw a door across from here. Jill, you wanna come with me and check it out?" "Well, only if Carlos doesn't mind staying in here alone for a few minutes," - Jill said, now looking at Carlos. "Don't worry, I'll be fine, you two go ahead and go." - Carlos. Chris and Jill re-entered the corridor, still no monsters, and went into the door in front of them. "Hmmm, I think this is a study." - Chris said while looking around. Jill - "Yeah, definitely looks like one." "Let's check out some of these books, they might be useful." - Chris. Jill nodded in agreement, so they each picked up a book, and started skimming through them. In the family room, Carlos decided to go into the door next to him. It seemed to be a dead end, but for some strange reason Carlos seemed to be interested in it. When he looked down and around the small room, he saw what had to be nine zombies lying down on the floor, motionless. Carlos - "Jesus, what the hell happened here?" He figured that they were all just dead, but still carefully stepped over the one in front of him. It didn't move, so he figured that he was still safe. He went toward the back, seeing something shiny on the ground. Just then back in the study where Chris and Jill were, some old type of music started blaring. That caused them to have to yell at the top of their lungs to be able to hear each other. "Chris!" - Jill screamed. She yelled again, - "Chris!" He heard her that time, and turned to her and yelled - "What?" "Where the hell is that coming from?" - Jill screamed. "I'm not sure. Probably from a stereo somewhere. We gotta find it and turn that shit off!" - Chris yelled back. Jill nodded and they both began searching for a stereo, to turn off the music. But back where Carlos was, he was carefully stepping over the corpses to reach the back. He could hear some weird music playing, but didn't think anything of it. When he got to the wall, he realized that the shiny object was just a quarter. "Damn." He then heard something behind him and turned around to see exactly what had made that noise. When he did see what it was, he was stunned and shocked. The rotting corpses were starting to move! They rose slowly, and began to raise their arms, and started walking toward him, shuffling their feet on the way. Carlos watched in horror as the nine un-dead creatures inched closer and closer. He got his pistol out from his belt and began to back up slowly, though he realized there was no room to back. Carlos - "No, no, no! Shit!" And as he shouted that a censor-licker jumped out of the wall from behind him, pushing him right into the group of zombies. "HELP!" - Carlos cried out as the zombies tackled him down onto the floor, but no one could hear him, as where Jill and Chris were, they couldn't hear anything. "AHHHH!" - He screamed as they started ripping and tearing at his flesh. He let off three bullets, but that didn't kill any of them. One of the zombies but off a chuck of flesh, and tore part of a lung out of Carlos's throat, which killed him instantly. Carlos foamed and drooled at the mouth. He was dead now, and died with his eyes open, glaring at the ceiling, blood spewed onto it. His body lay lifeless as the zombies and the censor-licker ate at it. Back in the study, Chris had finally found the source of the music, - "Found it," he yelled out to Jill as he climbed up onto the desk and reached for the stereo and switched the music off. "Thank God." - Jill. Chris - I know, that was annoying as hell." Jill - "Well, anyway, I'm gonna go back to the family room, and see what Carlos has been doing." "Yeah, okay. I'm just gonna finish looking through this book." - Chris said, while he was looking down at an old, dusty book. "Okay." - Jill. So, Jill went toward the door and turned the cold handle, and entered the hall once again, only to be in there for a few seconds. She took a few steps and was at the door to the family room. She entered and noticed right away that Carlos wasn't there. She called out his name - "Carlos?" But there was no answer. She looked around for any clues of where he could be, but there was nothing, no clues whatsoever. Then she saw the door on the other side of the room and began to get curious. "Guess he went through that door." - She muttered to herself. So, she started towards the door, walking around the table that was at the center of the room. She heard something in there, making her kind of hesitant about going into that room. It sounded like a sort of munching sound. That made her very curious. She decided to check out the room. She started turning the golden knob slowly, and opened the door the rest of the way (it hadn't been completely shut). She was disgusted at what she saw. She saw a bunch of zombies hovered over something, ripping at whatever it was. She raised her eyebrow in interest, wondering what they were eating. She kept her distance, being quiet, making sure not to get anything's attention. Once she saw the censor-licker she immediately reached down and pulled out her handgun. She put her finger on the trigger and pulled on it. She let off a whole round of ammunition, wanting to make sure that it was dead, and it was. The zombies moved a bit, but still too fixed on their dinner to go after her, and Jill could finally see what they were hovering over. "Oh, shit..." - Jill said softly, realizing that it was Carlos. She stood there for a moment, frozen. Her eyes were wide, her knees shaking, and her mouth open and quivering, in disbelief. She was absolutely astonished by the obscene scene. Then, when she noticed that the zombies were starting to turn, and started walking slowly toward her, she just turned around and went back through the door in which she had came, shutting that door behind her. Her eyes started to water as Chris opened the door and came back in. He had that old book with him, the one that he was reading when she had left him. He was still reading the end of it. When he looked up, he saw that there was one single tear dripping down Jill's right cheek, and asked her - "What's wrong, and where's Carlos?" She looked down, and then after a slight pause, answered - "He's dead." Chris - "What?" "Yeah. I just found him in that room." - Jill said pointing to the door behind her. "There were zombies everywhere, eating at his mutilated corpse. I guess if he yelled for help, which I'm sure he did, we couldn't hear him because of the music." - Jill. Chris - "Damnit. We shouldn't have left him." "It's not our fault." - Jill. "Let's go back." - Chris said solemnly. Once back in the family room, he said, "I think this was a plan." Jill - "Huh? What do you mean?" "Well, I just read about it in this old book, check it out." - He said as he handed it over to Jill, who was wiping the tears from her eyes. She looked down at the page and started to read the following: Edward's Journal ________________________________________________________________________ May 11, 1999 I think the S.T.A.R.S. members, and the others that were involved are finally catching on to us. This has been a fear of mine since the beginning. I knew we shouldn't have stayed in Raccoon. We should've gone to Paris, that was the first and the only good plan. They would've never gotten us there. I knew that they would eventually figure this all out, they're smart, and that's how they got with S.T.A.R.S. in the first place. Damnit! I have to think of a trap to set up. I just have to. Think, Edward, think. ________________________________________________________________________ May 13, 1999 Yes! I've got it. There are zombies everywhere, we'll just trap a bunch of them in the room after the family room, make it seem as if they're all dead. The S.T.A.R.S. will split up, needing to search the mansion, so once two or three people are in the family room, yes! That's it. Perfect. It has been my experience that once in the family room, someone is always curious about the door opposite from that room. So, while someone stays back, the other will go across the hall, and into the study, to find anything useful. The one that is back in the family room will be very curious about what's in the room through the door next to them. And, once he enters, it will set off a silent alarm, trigger a stereo that will start blasting out music in the study. While the other person is left to die, the one in the room with the music wont be able to hear anything! That will lower the count, making it harder for them to beat us. After all, ya know what they say, curiosity killed the cat, in this case, will kill the human. Ha, ha, ha, I truly am a genius! ________________________________________________________________________ May 16, 1999 I put the plan in effect today. Had someone go into the room after the family room, and one go into the study. Upon entering the room, it does indeed set off a stereo back in the study, causing the victim to go unheard. Of course the subject we had to have go into the family room's second door, died. Eaten by zombies. We also had to put the zombies down to get rid of the body, but that's fine. We can get a new batch anyway. Important thing is it works, and if the S.T.A.R.S. people show up, they'll probably fall for it! "That is so sick." - Jill said, looking at Chris. Chris - "Yeah, I know. One of those zombies was probably that guy...and it was a plan all along. This guy knew we were coming; well, at least suspected it. Maybe we should go back to the main room, and see if the others have come back yet. You want to?" Jill - "Yeah, sure." So, they opened the door, entered the hall, and started toward the first room of the mansion, Chris holding Jill close to him. As he was flying over the city, Leon though about Sherry some more. "Where the hell could she be?" - He muttered to himself, as he was getting closer to entering the forest area. Where could she possibly be, and who had her? That question had haunted him ever since she had disappeared. He knew Wesker took her, but who else was in on it? Then he completely erased that from his mind, as he started flying over the trees of Raccoon Forest, remembering his purpose, get to the mansion. The choppers were very loud, so loud he could barely hear himself think. But he did anyway, thinking about the things that could be taking place this very moment at the mansion. He wondered if everyone was okay. Hoping that he wouldn't have to come across any dead bodies. He flew low, close to trees, almost trimming off the top of them. It was pitch black outside, so he had the lights of the helicopter on, letting him see just enough to be able to get to the mansion. The mansion was now in his view. He was anxious and scared at the same time. Scared of dying, or being hurt, or that Claire or anyone else was dead. Anxious about finding out exactly what was happening, and he wanted to stop it. They could now hear the chopper outside, approaching the mansion. Claire, Rebecca and Barry hadn't gone far. After they had decided to head down the right side of the hallway, they went through the door on the left side of the wall. There were stairs on the other side of it, so they climbed up them. They turned left, entering a very wide and spacious room. Then they heard the helicopter. There was a door to the right of the room they were in. Barry turned around, facing Rebecca and Claire. "What's that?" - Barry. Claire - "It must be Leon. He's almost here." The girls walked forward, as Barry walked backwards. "Good." - He said. Claire then looked down and back up at Barry, and yelled - "Barry, look out!" But it was too late. He fell right through the hole in which the Krate-digger had crashed through and made. Both Claire and Rebecca called out - "Barry!" as they looked down through the hole, noticing that Chris and Jill were down there. The fall knocked Barry unconscious on impact. Jill and Chris were immediately at Barry's side. Claire turned and started downstairs. Rebecca heard something through the door on her right, but didn't bother to check it out yet, due to the fact that she needed to get down to Barry. "I'll just come back a little later," - she whispered to herself, as she started downstairs. Chris - "Rebecca!" As she came to the foot of the stairs she said, - "I'm here." She ran over to Barry and knelt beside him, tending to him, and trying to wake him up. "He'll be fine." - Rebecca said as Barry was starting to come to. He groaned as he tried to move, his back aching. Rebecca - "No, don't move yet." "Just let me walk it off," - he said as he started to stand up. Leon flew down and landed right in front of the mansion. He opened the door and stepped out into the cold night, his shoes crunching the leaves below. He pulled out the duffle bag out of the helicopters back seat and closed the door behind him. He walked up to the mansion's brown double-doors and opened them up and walked inside. He dropped the bag by him, and said - "I'm finally here." They all turned to see him. Claire ran over to him and hugged him tightly, then said - "I'm so glad to see you." He smiled and said - "I'm glad to see you guys, too." Rebecca - "Wait. Where's Carlos?" Chris looked at Jill, and Jill turned to Rebecca. After a bit of a pause, she started to answer, - "He's...he's dead." With a sympathetic voice, Rebecca said, - "Oh, sorry." They all had apologetic faces. About a minute of saying nothing, Jill says, - "Well at least Leon's here now." "Oh, I just remembered something that I need to do." - Rebecca said, remembering the noise that she had heard upstairs. As she started for the stairs, Chris said to her, - "You shouldn't be wandering around by yourself." She had a grin on her face as she said back to him, - "Don't worry about me, I know exactly where I'm going." She ran up the stairs and turned right and headed down the hall. She turned and ran up the second flight of stairs. She saw the door and walked toward it slowly. When she got to it she could tell that something or someone was in the room on the other side of the door. She started opening the door slowly, her gun in her hand, ready for something to jump out at her. When she entered it was dark, but she was still able to see a figure sitting in a chair. She found the light switch and flipped the light on. It was a bedroom. It wasn't that interesting, not much to see. There was just a king-size bed, a dresser, and a desk. A guy that was sitting down in a chair by the desk suddenly stood up when she turned the light on. He had black, spiked hair, which had blonde tips, and a golden hoop earring in his left ear. He had a plain, white shirt on, and khaki cargo shorts that extended about an inch below his knees. He had sweet, shiny, dark blue eyes. He was about six inches taller than her, and had kind of had a muscular body. Rebecca could tell that he was just a teenager, like her. Whoa, she thought to herself, cute guy. She brushed that thought out of her mind and asked him, - "Who are you?" "Uh...my name's Jason Thompson, I'm 19." - Jason. He had a smooth voice, kind of deep. "What are you doing here?" - She asked. Jason - "My dad works here, he's a scientist for Umbrella. I don't wanna be here though, too boring." Rebecca - "Come with me, I have some friends that are here. They're in the main room downstairs." Jason - "Okay. Usually don't have people to talk to." They headed out of that room and went back downstairs. While on the balcony upstairs, Rebecca called out, - "I found someone." They turned and looked up. Rebecca - "This is Jason Thompson, he's, his dad works here." "Really?" - Chris. "Yeah, but I really don't want to be here." - Jason. Jill - "Then why don't you just leave?" "I can't, if I tried to leave, they would just try to kill me. I know too much about Umbrella, they won't let me leave because they want to make sure that I don't tell anyone anything." - Jason. Chris - "So you know about all of the experiments that have been going on here?" Jason - "Well yeah, sure. But I know a lot more about what's happening with Umbrella than just their experiments. I mean, my dad has told me everything that he knows. Probably trying to make up for...nevermind, not important. " Chris - "Well, can you tell us?" Rebecca was standing next to Jason, while Barry was behind them, and the others were in front of them, facing the mansion's double-doors. As Jason was about to answer, he saw a figure come out of a shadow, right behind Chris and the others. The figure was a scientist that was aiming a gun right at Rebecca. As the man pulled the trigger, Jason dove at Rebecca and they both hit the floor. The bullet went right passed them and hit Barry directly in the middle of his forehead. Jason immediately got up and again, dove, this time at Barry's gun. He picked it up and while still lying on his back, shot three bullets in the scientist's chest, knocking him to the floor and killing him. Everyone ran at Barry, staring down at him in disbelief. Chris - "Barry, no! Rebecca, do something!" "I can't. There's no use and there's nothing I can do. He's dead, Chris." - Rebecca. Chris - "No, damnit!" He looked down at Barry's body, shaking his head. "This can't be happening! His poor wife and his kids...I can't...believe this." - Chris. Jill was shocked as well, - "It's not easy for any of us. He's been our trusted friend for a long time now." Leaving the others grieving, Jason walked over to the scientist, wondering who it was. When he did realize who it was, he said softly, - "Well...that kinda sucks." Rebecca heard him and walked over to him. "What is it?" - She asked. But after looking down and reading the nametag, she didn't have to ask. "John Thompson, that was your dad, huh?" - Rebecca said, and put a hand on his shoulder. "Yeah." - Jason. Chris then angrily looked up from Barry's dead body and said to Jason, - "They're gonna pay for this! What do you know?" Jason - "Well, there are secret laboratories buried under this mansion, even further under the labs in the other mansion where they were growing the Tyrant, that are known only by a few VIPs. They built them about six months ago. Umbrella is planning on growing a new and improved Xeno T-virus, which is capable of controlling B.O.W. behavior." Rebecca - "Xeno T-virus?" Jason - "Yeah. It's the strongest and most deadliest virus known to man, at least it will be if they succeed in developing it. If it was injected into something small and weak like a baby, or rat or something like that, the thing would die instantly. If something powerful, like a bear or something were injected with the Xeno T-virus, the effects would be unbelievable and unimaginable. It would be near impossible to stop or kill, if not completely impossible." "Damnit!" - Chris. Jill - "This is unreal." Chris - "We gotta put an end to this. Oh, and we never introduced ourselves to you." Jason - "Oh, don't bother. I already know who all of you are." "How?" - Chris. "Umbrella has pictures of all of you. And they have lots of information on you, too," then pointing at each of them, one by one, he pointed out - "Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Rebecca Chambers and..." looking down at his cold corpse, - "Barry Burton." "Figures." - Chris said, frustrated with the whole situation. "Is there anything else?" - Chris. Jason - "Actually yeah. Umbrella wanted me here for another a reason besides my dad working here." "Why?" - Chris. Jason - "Well, I'm a martial arts and gun specialist." Jill - "So young?" Jason - "Well, yeah. I started taking martial arts classes like karate and other things when I was only ten. And well..." with a grin on his face said, - "I've always liked guns." They all smiled, even Chris. "Well I guess that's a good addition to us." Chris. "Um, there's another thing." - Jason. "What is it?" - Jill. "Well, about two weeks ago, Umbrella discovered that a former S.T.A.R.S. member, and a former Umbrella employee is working for another company, and is gonna try to steal the Xeno T-virus. The man is Albert Wesker. "What? They just figured that out?" - Chris. "Guess so." - Jason. Jason - "He's super human. If he's given enough time he will become a Super Alpha Hunter. He won't actually turn into a hunter, but he'll be more powerful than one. And I have a feeling that he probably wants to inject himself with the new virus, so he'll become unstoppable. He was a traitor to S.T.A.R.S. and a traitor to Umbrella." "There's gotta be some information about Wesker somewhere." - Chris. Jill - "Yeah, but where?" "There's a computer down in the secret labs where scientists and a few other people have their own login names, where they keep all of their private and personal files. We each have our own passwords, too." - Jason. "But I thought you said that those labs were built six months ago." - Chris. Jason - "I did, cause they were." "But what happened with Wesker happened about six months ago too, so how would there be information about him?" - Chris. Jason - "They brought the computer down from the other labs, which Wesker did have his own stuff on. Plus, Wesker actually came back after he had supposedly died." Chris - "But why would he come back, I thought he didn't want Umbrella to know he was alive, especially if he's working for another company, who was against Umbrella." "Who knows what's going on in that guy's head. Maybe he wanted to try to prove his loyalty to Umbrella by showing them he could still be trusted. I mean, with standing Alexia and the Tyrant and all. And he didn't want them to find out that he was working for someone else. I don't actually know." - Jason. Jill - "Okay well, even so, if they all have their own passwords, how do you expect to get into his files?" "Well, I know all of the passwords." - Jason. Rebecca - "How?" "Does it really matter how? Let's just say, I have my ways." - Jason. "Not really I guess, not as long as you do in fact have the password." - Rebecca. "Right, which I do, so let's go." - Jason. "Yeah, we should get this done as soon as possible." - Chris. As they're about to head to the door, Chris turned and looked down at Barry and said, - "Don't worry Barry. We're gonna destroy Umbrella and get revenge for you and your family." Then turns back towards the group, - "I'm ready, let's go kick some ass." They all put ready looks on their faces as they headed through the door into the dining room, Jason leading the way. He went down to the other end, and turn right and headed through that door. Once he was in the hall, he went over to the door on the left side of the wall, the one in which Jill had tried to open and it had been locked. "It's through here." - Jason. Jill - "But I tried to open that door earlier and it was locked." "Oh, well, I've got the key for it." - Jason. "Oh, okay. You have everything, don't ya?" - Jill. He pulled out a shiny silver key from his right short's pocket, and inserted it in the keyhole and turned it slightly to the right. There was a small 'click,' as the metal lock was released. He turned the cold, round doorknob to the right, and pushed the wooden door open. They all walked in, the floorboards creaking below their feet. It was a plain room, with a desk, and a brown, wooden, hand-made dresser with a purple, pink, and white rug resting beneath it. There weren't any other doors visible in the room, and there wasn't much to look at. It seemed and looked like a dead end. "Now what? There's nothing useful in here." - Leon. Jason - "Sure there is, just be patient for a minute. Chris, come over here and help me move this dresser, it's heavier than it looks." So Chris walked over to the dresser where Jason was standing. They both then put their shoulders up against the wooden dresser, and started to push towards the farthest wall. "It has to be completely off of the rug." - Jason. "Okay," - Chris said, pushing it farther. The other four watched, as the last of it went sliding off of the old, dusty rug. "Thanks," - Jason said as Chris backed up, joining the others. He then knelt down, and got a hold of the rug, lifted it, and through it over by where the dresser now was. It had revealed a hidden door. Jason smiled and said, - "Told ya there was something useful in here." Jason got down on his knees again and lifted the small, golden hatch, which squeaked when he lifted it. He held it open, as everyone climbed in, then he got in, and started down the stairs, closing the hidden door behind him. Once they were all down there, Jason got in the front again, being the one that knew where to go. He looked around the corner to make sure that nobody was coming. "It's clear, let's go," - He whispered to them. So, they turned right, around the corner. They headed down that white hallway, and then turned another right, through another hall. All of the walls were white. "Jeez, what is it with scientists and white anyway?" - Claire said, realizing that the halls were all white, and scientists where white lab coats. Claire - "You'd figure they could paint them, maybe blue or something." They all laughed at the thought as they hurried down the hall. They turned the left corner, - "Slow down" - Jason. So, they all slowed down on his command. They turned right again and went down another flight of stairs. Chris was the one to open the door. Jason heard something and looked around the corner. "Shit." - He said quietly, turning back to the others. "Quick, go down the stairs and wait for me at the bottom." Rebecca was the first one to go down, followed by Jill, Leon, Claire, and Chris was last and once he was on the stairs he closed the door quietly and gently behind him, continuing down the stairs, joining the others. They were as quiet as they could be. Back upstairs, Jason went back around the corner and cut off the approaching scientist. He put his arm around his shoulder and turned him around, - "Walk with me Charles. So, what's up?" Charles - "Well you know Umbrella, there's always something going on." "Heh, yeah that's true. How's the Xeno T-virus coming?" - Jason. Charles - "It's going great. It's almost done, in fact, it should be done Thursday, well, technically tomorrow, since it is 1:00 a.m." Jason - "Tomorrow, huh?" "Yep, but if not then for sure Friday." - Charles. Jason - "Cool, can't wait to see it." Charles - "By the way, have you seen your dad lately?" Thinking about his dad being dead, being killed by him, he answered, - "No, not since last night. "Okay. Well, if ya see him tell him I'm looking for him. See ya, Jason." - Charles. Jason - "Alright, later." He waited until Charles had turned the corner and faded out of view before he went back to the door that lead to the stairs. They were waiting patiently at the bottom of the stairs for him. He opened up the door and hurried down the stairs. "Don't worry, it's me. Uh, I got a little bit of information about the upcoming Xeno T-virus. He said it should be done tomorrow, but if not then for sure Friday." - Jason. Chris - "Then we better move fast." Jason opened the door that was at the bottom of the staircase. He lead them across into the door that was just opposite of where they had come out of. "This way," - Jason said, motioning to the only door in the room, which was on the left wall, right after they had come inside. They followed him, as he had to unlock that door with the same little silver key as before. It was a very small, thin, short, white hallway, there was a door on the other side, only about ten feet away. Jason stopped in the middle of it and started running his hands along the right, white painted wall. "What are you doing? There's a door across from us." - Jill. Jason - "It's not through there...found it," - he said, grabbing a latch that had been hidden in the wall. "It's through here, Umbrella hides everything important to them." - Jason. He entered the secret door, which led to even more stairs going down. They followed, and followed when he turned left, leading them down the last set of stairs, and opened the last door leading to the secret labs. Once they had gone through that door, Jason said - "Okay, we're here. These are the labs. Before we go any further, I feel obligated to tell you what we could possibly run across." They all looked concern as he told them. "Umbrella scientists created another Nemesis mutation. They took DNA from a dead Tyrant, and injected it into a Nemesis. It looks just like the original Nemesis, only the left arm is like the Tyrants, claws coming out of it. It has the combined strength of both of the creatures, they call it the Nemesis 2000," - He finished. "Great, that's just great." - Jill said, being sarcastic and angry at the same time. Jill - "That thing was a bitch to kill before, and now it's got the strength of it and the Tyrant combined, damnit!" Chris - "Jill, you're the only one of us that actually saw and fought the Nemesis, how powerful is it?" "Let me put it this way, it was stronger than the Tyrant." - Jill. They all looked disappointed with the news. "Look, we should split up. Whoever gets to the computer lab room first looks for the information, and then waits for the others to join them. If they don't come after a while then just go look for them." He pointed around the corner and then said, - "Me, Rebecca and Claire will go that way, and Chris, Leon and Jill will go straight ahead of where we are." - Jason. Chris - "Yeah, alright." "Okay, here's a map of this place, our destination is room 316, the computer labs." - He said, taking out a folded map out of his back pocket. "If you guys get there before us, the login name is Albert Wesker and the password is HCF, his company. It shouldn't take long to get there, it's not that far from here." - Jason. "Okay, let's go." - Chris. "Here, take this," - Jill said, handing over a lock pick to Jason, - "You might need it." Jason - "Thanks, now let's head out." So Jason, Rebecca and Claire headed right, and around the corner. All of the halls were painted white. As they saw them turn another corner, Chris, Jill and Leon headed off straight, watching for anybody. When they looked around the next corner, they saw a room full of giant mutated spiders. "Oh God I hate those things." - Jill. "We all do, Jill." - Leon. "Yeah, well I hated spiders in the first place. Oh, here Chris, hold on to this for me." - Jill said, handing her other lock pick over to him. "Okay." - Chris. Leon - "Damn, what are they doing?" Leon looked closer and said, - "Gross, they're eating one of the dead ones." They all looked in disgust at the obscene scene. Chris - "Look at the giant spider web." "Yeah, it's freaking huge." - Jill. Chris - "C'mon, let's keep walking." After a few minutes of walking in silence, Leon leading and following the map, and Chris in back, Leon said, - "Hey Chris." But there was no answer, Jill wasn't paying any attention as he said, - "Chris?" He stopped and Jill bumped into him. He looked back behind Jill and was shocked that Chris wasn't behind her. "Crap, where the hell is Chris?" - Leon. Jill said - "Huh?" and then turned around. She then said, - "I don't know, I thought he was behind me." "Me too. Damn, where could he be?" - Leon. Jill - "I don't know, but we gotta hurry up and find the computer lab and tell the others." "Yeah, that's true." - Leon. So they took off, following the map exactly, hoping to get there very soon, and tell the others that Chris was gone. They had easily found the lab, thanks to Jason knowing his way around the place. They were on the outside of the computer room, the door was on the far left, and there was a very large glass window to the right of it, allowing easy access to see into it. "Nobody's in there, good." - Jason said, twisting the doorknob and allowing the girls to enter and then he followed and closed the door behind them. Claire - "Well we obviously got here first, let's check it out." Jason went over and sat down in the computer chair that was at the desk. He put his hand over the mouse and clicked on "Login." The message box came up and asked for the user's name. Jason typed in "Albert Wesker." It said that the username was successful, and then asked for the password. He typed in "HCF," and it said that he had successfully logged in as Albert Wesker. "Ok, now for some searching for personal files." - Jason. Claire and Rebecca were hunched over, watching the computer screen over Jason's shoulders. "Let's see." - Jason. They were all scanning the screen. "Oh duh," - Jason said as he clicked on the folder named "My personal crap." Rebecca - "Figures he'd name it something like that." He looked in the folder for anything that seemed interesting. "What the hell?" - Claire. "What?" - Jason and Rebecca both said, turning and looking at Claire. "Sherry?" - She said, pointing at a text file named "Sherry and the mission." Claire - "Click on it." So Jason moved the mouse over it and click and this text came up: Sherry and the mission ________________________________________________________________________ December 28, 1998 This shouldn't be too hard. All I have to do is steal the Xeno T-virus, and destroy Umbrella. Destroying Umbrella is something I've wanted to do for a while now, and I always get what I want. But what my company doesn't know is that I will wait until they have made plenty of the virus, so I can inject myself and be unstoppable! And then I will destroy Umbrella, and HCF, ha, ha, ha, I will be the true evil in the world, and no one will stop me, not even those damn S.T.A.R.S or Redfield's sister, or Leon. They'll just be too weak, ha. This is just too perfect. The HCF is nothing without me, and after Umbrella is destroyed, they'll be nothing! ________________________________________________________________________ January 3, 1999 Ha, I can't believe how easy that was. Just took her right from Leon, knocked him out cold and snatched her. She was scared, she even screamed and cried. I told her not to worry, but she wanted to be with that stupid rookie, like she would be safe with him, no way. She's just a little girl, and Ada helped me do it all, too bad I had to kill her... She was a tough chick, but we didn't need her after we got Sherry. Sherry has a very annoying voice as well. Too bad I just can't kill her, too. I really don't see why we need her, but they want to keep her, and they want me too look after her. I'm sure that they have other people that are way more qualified for this kind of thing, but no, they trust me more than anybody, they know I'll be faithful to their company, and I will single handedly take down Umbrella! Anyway, as long as my orders are to take care of that annoying little girl, I will, so overall, Sherry's in good hands. There's just something about her... ________________________________________________________________________ They looked at Claire. "Damnit! I can't believe Wesker really has her. Nobody is safe in his hands!" - Claire. "We gotta wait for the others, and then we'll tell them what we found." - Rebecca. "Yeah, it's the only thing we can do right now." - Jason. Claire - "Then they just better hurry their asses." After a few minutes of waiting, suddenly Leon and Jill come bursting through the door, catching their breaths. "We gotta tell you something," - Claire said, standing up. Leon - "We gotta tell you something, too." Claire - "Wait, where's Chris?" "That's what we needed to tell you. After walking for a few minutes, when Leon said his name, Chris didn't answer. He said his name again, and still no answer, so we turned around and noticed that he wasn't there, it's like he disappeared." - Jill. Leon - "Yeah, and we didn't even hear anything behind us, like something got him, so we thought he was still there." Claire - "Crap, now we gotta find his ass." "Yeah I know. But wait, what did you find out that you needed to tell us?" - Leon. Claire - "Oh right. Well, it's some really bad news. We found a file called 'Sherry and the mission.' When we read it we found out that not only does Wesker want to steal the new virus, but he also wants to destroy Umbrella and inject himself with it. Also, after he destroys Umbrella, he says he's gonna destroy his new company too, so he will be the only true evil in the world and he'll be unstoppable, and that the S.T.A.R.S won't even be able to stop him. And the worst part of it was that he's the one that has Sherry." "Oh my God." - Leon. "Exactly." - Claire. Jill - "Well Wesker could be anywhere, and we don't even know where his company is, or how Sherry is." Claire - "Well we just need to find Chris right now." Rebecca - "Yeah, let's go." He opened his eyes slowly; he had a major headache. He figured something or someone had knocked him out, with something very heavy. He had been unconscious, but he didn't know for how long. He didn't even know what had happened, he was walking with Jill and Leon, and then he was in a white room, with a large glass window to the right of him. That was all he remembered. He blinked a few times, his sight blurry for the first minute after waking up from his deep sleep. When he tried to move, he couldn't, not his legs or arms, only his hands and feet slightly, he could still move his head. He looked down, trying to figure out what was covering him, restraining him. He thought to himself, what is this crap? White, and sticky, like some kind of web. That's it; it's a spider web. He immediately looked around for any sign of a spider, but there weren't any in the room. Then, his eyes landed on a shadowy figure that was standing in the room, just a few feet in front of him. It was a man, but it was just a little too dark to see his face, to find the identity of the figure dressed in black. The man then flipped on the lights, obviously not caring about his identification being revealed, and when Chris saw his body, his face, he immediately knew him. Dressed in all black, including boots, blonde hair, and black glasses, not revealing the man's eyes, but Chris knew how they looked, because the man standing in front of him was...Wesker! "You miserable son of a bitch!" - Chris shouted, feeling angry for everything that Wesker had put him and his teammates through. "Now, now, don't be mad Redfield, and don't be surprised. It was only a matter of time before I caught you," - Wesker said, with a calm, cool voice. He took off his glasses and Chris could see his yellow, hunter eyes staring into his. "I'm already almost full Super Alpha Hunter, after I inject myself with the Xeno T-virus, you'll never be able to stop me, nobody will. I'll take over whatever I want, slowly of course, destroying everything that gets in my way, including you." - Wesker. The smile on Wesker's face made him sick. How can a person have no compassion for people, for life? Then it suddenly struck him, how Wesker could be like that. He wasn't human, he was just a monster, and literally. Chris stared at him, glaring into his evil eyes for a moment in time. Wesker - "Steve, Steve come in here." The door on the left wall opened, and a young man entered the room. He had short, brown hair; he also had army like clothes on. He was wearing dark glasses, the kind Wesker had been wearing. "Yeah?" - Steve. Jeez, Chris thought to himself, that kid's got an annoying voice, and it sounds like a little kids voice, still, Chris knew that he had to be evil if he was working with Wesker. "Watch Chris for a few minutes, I'll be in the other room with Sherry." - Wesker. "Alright." - Steve. "Oh, and cut him down, I took away his gun, so he's harmless to us." - Wesker said, as he got out a knife and waited for Steve to take it. That was the first time that Chris actually noticed that he didn't have his gun. Steve nodded and took the knife from his hand, and Wesker left the room, going through the door Steve had come through. Steve turned his attention on Chris, - "So, you're Chris Redfield, Claire's brother." Chris - "You know Claire...what's your last name?" "Oh you know, you know Claire told you...its Burnside, Steve Burnside." - Steve. Chris - "But, Claire told me you died, and that was six months ago." Steve - "Well she was right, I was dead, but Wesker was kind enough to resurrect me, he brought me back. Remember? His company took me, he told you I might come back." Chris - "Yeah, but obviously only to turn you evil! Take off your glasses." "Why? What do you expect to see?" - Steve. Chris was silent; he just stared at Steve with cold, icy eyes. "Fine, but you already know what you're gonna see." - Steve. Steve lifted his hand, and placed the fingers of his left hand on his glasses. He tore them off aggressively, and threw them against the wall to the left. He had been right, Chris saw, as he stared into Steve's mutated yellow eyes. Chris - "So you have been infected." Steve - "Indeed I have, Wesker injected me the same virus he used on himself. Of course, I won't be nearly as strong as him for a while, considering he's had the virus in him a lot longer. He's even thinking about letting me inject myself with the Xeno T-virus, but that's not really important to me. Oh yeah, I'm supposed to cut you down." As he lifted up the knife, Chris - "Did you really love Claire?" Steve looked up at him, - "Yeah I do, I mean, I did. And I thought she felt the same about me." He slit through the web on both sides, letting Chris free, and he fell to his knees, then he stood up, feeling relieved he could finally move. "But it seemed like she just didn't get it, well, sometimes she did, other times she didn't, until I told her I loved her, right before I died! But it doesn't matter anymore, she's gonna die just like you, just like all of you." - Steve. Chris - "You're not gonna kill me, and you're sure as hell not gonna kill them!" "You're right, at least about one thing, I'm not gonna kill you. In about a minute or two, Wesker's going to remove all of the air from this room, and that will suffocate you. I personally thought it would be better to have Claire watch you die, but Wesker just hates you so much that he wants you dead as soon as possible." - Steve. Chris ran at him, but he just lifted him up, and threw him against the back wall. Steve - "Nice try, but you ain't getting out of here, especially not through me." Chris was on one knee, watching Steve as he left the room; he went into where Wesker was. Chris got up and ran over to the door that led to the outside, which was on the far right. It was of course locked, Chris had figured that much, and he certainly didn't have the key. "This is it," - Chris said to himself, - "I'm totally screwed, but I just can't let Wesker win, and I CAN'T let him kill the others, my friends, Claire." But what am I supposed to do? That question repeated over and over in his head before it struck him, the lock pick! Yes! The lock pick that Jill gave to me to hold on to for her. He just hoped to God that Wesker hadn't found it as he reached into his pocket. His face lit up and he smiled as he felt something sharp in his pocket. He lifted the object out, and it was the lock pick. "Thank you Jill." - He said out loud. Then he heard Wesker's voice coming out of a speaker in the room. He looked over his shoulder, and saw Steve and Wesker watching him. They both grinned as Wesker talked, - "Guess what Chris...time to die!" Then Chris saw Wesker reach over and press a button that was on a small control panel and heard a woman's voice on a machine come on: "Ten seconds until air is completely removed. Repeat. Ten seconds until air is completely removed. Ten...nine...eight...seven...six..." Chris waited until the count was down to three, and he let out his breath, and waited for the count of one and inhaled as much air as he could hold, it might've been the last breath he would ever take. "The air has been completely removed from the room." He turned back to the door and got down on his knees, and inserted the lock pick into the keyhole. He started moving it around, not really too sure how to use it, but he knew that there was no time to spare. He was starting to lose his breath; he heard a noise that came from the door. He wasn't sure what it actually was, but he hoped with all of his heart that the lock had just been released. It had been just about a minute since all of the air had been sucked out, and he was getting weaker and weaker. Since just pushing against the door wasn't enough, he decided that he had to ram into it, and hope that it opened it, it was his last chance, if that didn't work, he would for sure be trapped and die. He staggered to his feet and made his way across to the other side of the room, limping. As he let out the final air from his mouth, he turned and ran the best that he could toward the door. He slammed into the door, shoulder first, and it slammed open, making Chris fall to the floor and start gasping for air. He heard a voice call out - "Chris!" as Claire, Jill, Rebecca, Leon, and Jason came running toward him. It was Jill who had called his name. He was on his back, trying to breath in air. They were all standing over him. "Are you alright?" - Claire. Chris - "I will...be...after I catch...my breath." Claire - "Okay, good." Jill - "Then you can tell us what happened." "I'm okay now, I've got some major news, especially for you Claire." - Chris. They all looked at her, she lowered both her eyebrows, concerned and afraid of what Chris was about to tell them. "Wesker tried to suffocate me to death. I woke up and saw him standing in front of me, but after a few minutes he left, he said something like he was going to go into the room with...Sherry." - Chris. Claire and Leon looked over at each other. Leon then said, - "So...she's here. Well, we gotta find her." Chris - "Apparently she is, but that wasn't actually the major news that I have to tell you, what I gotta tell you is bigger than that." They all looked at him, waiting for him to continue, and wondering what could be bigger news than that. "When Wesker left me, he had some guy that was working with him come into the room and watched me...Steve." - Chris. Claire shook her head slowly, - "I ...don't understand...who's Steve?" Chris - "Oh, you know Steve, you even watched him die." Claire's eyes widened in horror, as she realized who he meant, - "But, but, but..." "He's dead. Well, he was, but he's not anymore. Wesker brought him back; he resurrected him, and turned him evil. He even injected Steve with the same thing he used on himself. So now, not only is he alive, but he's also super human as well. That's right Claire, Steve Burnside's alive and back, only this time he's evil." - Chris. Claire - "Oh my God, I can't believe this." Chris - "Well believe it, cause it's true. We gotta watch out for both of them now." Then thinking about them, he turned around, but they were already gone. "Now what?" - Jill. Rebecca - "Well, we should probably get to the main lab because that's probably where the Xeno T-virus is, and we need to find it." "Yeah, but where's the lab? Jason?" - Claire. Jason - "Um, I don't actually know." The ground started to shake slightly. "What's that?" - Leon. "S.T.A.R.S!" "Uh oh." - Jason. Jill looked up - "Oh shit!" Jill and Jason both turned around, their eyes wide with fear. Chris looked behind Jill - "Holy shit!" Then, the biggest creature that any of them had ever seen stepped around the corner and came into view. Everyone's mouths dropped open, Jill - "Uh yeah, we should probably MOVE!" They all turned and ran with every ounce of energy they had, their adrenaline pumping. They turned the corner and kept on running. They finally came to a very wide, big, spacious room. They all smelled something, something they weren't sure of what it was. They looked left and saw a big pool-type thing filled with some kind of green liquid. Jill stayed back, watching the others. "What is it Rebecca?" - Chris. She got down closer to it and sniffed. She looked down at the green fluid, and realized - "What the...? It's acid!" "What the hell is acid doing here?" - Chris. Rebecca - "I don't know, but look, if you look close enough you can see that there are bones down there at the bottom." They looked closer and saw them. They looked on in disgust at what they found. Then the rumbling started again, and it came again - "S.T.A.R.S!" Jill turned around to find the Nemesis 2000 right behind her. Before she could even move, it grabbed her neck and lifted her up, choking her. He just held her up there in the air for a minute, Jill desperately trying to breathe. Then he threw her against the wall on the other side of the room. When she hit the wall, she also hit her head, and she slid down to the floor into a sitting position. Her head was hanging over her right shoulder, she was breathing heavily, and her eyes were only half open; she had almost been knocked completely unconscious. "Jill!" - Chris shouted, and before he knew it, the Nemesis had picked him up, choking him the same way he had with Jill. Jason saw light glare off of something on the floor on the other side of the room, behind the Nemesis 2000. He ran and slid under its legs, toward the object, the others not knowing what to do, and they were wondering what he was doing, and Rebecca was over helping Jill out. He got back up, and ran over and picked up a pair of sub-machine guns. When he turned around, he saw Chris kicking his feet, trying to break free. He pulled both of the guns triggers, as he walked forward, toward the Nemesis. The bullets were penetrating and pounding into it's back, its flesh splattering. It made a growling noise, and let go of Chris, he fell to the floor, catching his breath. The Nemesis turned around, and faced Jason. He continued to fire, and then a sound came that terrified him, click, click, the guns were empty. Nemesis raised its right arm, and smashed it right into the side of Jason's face, sending him flying and landing close to Jill. He put his left hand up to his lip and wiped off some blood. Nemesis started to walk closer to Claire, Chris and Leon, so they split up, each going a different way. Chris went left, toward where Jill, Jason, and Rebecca were. Claire went the opposite of Chris, to the right, and Leon went right passed and dodged the Nemesis. Rebecca looked at the acid and then yelled - "We gotta get him into the pool of acid, it'll kill him!" Chris - "How?" She shrugged - "I don't know, but I know that that's what we gotta do to kill it." Chris then remembered passing by a big gun on a wall while they were running. He ran past Nemesis and then passed Claire, who turned and watched him run by. "Claire!" - Rebecca. Claire turned around and one second later she saw the Nemesis raise its left arm, and stick one of its smaller claws right into her left shoulder, and lifted her up into the air. She screamed in agony as he threw her, she landed on the hard floor, and slid at least five feet after the impact. She held her right hand over her shoulder, there's was a pool of blood on her shirt, and on her hand. Rebecca immediately ran over to her. Chris grabbed the rocket launcher and ran back to the Nemesis. He saw Claire lying on the floor with blood on her, and looked back at Nemesis with cold, evil eyes. "You're dead you son of a bitch!"- Chris yelled, as loud as he could. Boom! Boom! With each shot from the rocket launcher, the Nemesis backed up, feeling the pressure of the blast. Chris ran by it, so that he was facing the acid, and so that it was behind Nemesis. He just started blasting it. "Nobody...hurts...my...sister!" - Chris said, each time he paused he let off another boom. One more shot and it would fall into the acid. Chris got close to the Nemesis, and aimed right at its midsection, and pulled the trigger. The blast pushed it right into the acid; it ate at his flesh, and melted it. They all could see it boiling and bubbling. It burned all of Nemesis, they had seen the acid melt, burn, and destroy it. Chris threw down the launcher and quickly ran and knelt down next to Claire. "Is she ok?" - Chris. Claire - "It's not as bad as it looks." Rebecca looked up at Chris, - "She'll be alright. It'll heal eventually." Then she turned her attention to Claire. "Fine, that shouldn't be too hard, after all, I am right handed." - Claire. Rebecca and Chris helped her up gently. The others were up as well. Jill was still wobbly from the impact, and her head was throbbing. Leon - "Let's rest for a minute." And they agreed that was a good idea. "Damnit!" - Wesker shouted and sat down in a chair and folded his arms. "How the hell could he get a freakin lock pick?" - Wesker. Steve - "I have no idea." "It was a rhetorical question, Steve." - Wesker. "Oh, well still though." - Steve. "That bitch Jill Valentine probably gave it to him, after all, she probably has plenty." - Wesker. Steve - "We almost had him!" "You're a mean guy Wesker, you're evil." - Sherry. Wesker turned his attention to the small girl in the northeast corner of the room that he had tied up in a chair, not that she was a threat; he just liked torturing people who opposed him. Plus, she was only 12 years old. "Shut up little girl." - Wesker snarled at her in an irritated voice. He could see the fear in her eyes. Sherry whined - "I want Claire." He was still watching her, along with Steve. "So do I," - Wesker said, turning his attention back to Steve, - "And I know Steve here does." "Hell yeah." - Steve. They both laughed at Wesker's little joke. Wesker - "Anyway, just keep your little mouth shut, don't make me have to kill a little girl." Her eyes widened - "You would really kill me?" "Of course, if I had to, I'll kill anyone that gets in my way. That means I'm definitely going to kill Claire. After all, you said it yourself, I am evil!" He put a grin on his face. Sherry - "No, don't kill Claire!" She put her head down and started to cry. When Wesker looked at Steve, he saw that he had almost what looked like a sympathetic look on his face. "You're not feeling sorry for her are you?" - Wesker. Steve - "Of course not, I'm evil now." "Damn right you are, and you ain't going back." - Wesker. Sherry looked up with red, watery eyes, and tears sliding down her little cheeks. "What do you want with me anyway?" - Sherry. Wesker - "You don't need to know, it's really no concern of yours. All you need to know is that you're here, I have you, and you're not escaping." She put her head back down and even more tears just starting flowing out of her blue-green eyes. Steve and Wesker showed no remorse whatsoever, and got back down to business. "So what are we gonna do now?" - Steve. "We should let them stumble upon this place." - Wesker. Steve - "But you said that nobody could ever find this place." Wesker looks at him with more interest, - "Yeah, that's true. So we gotta go search for them, hide, and then just pick them off. Hmm, I guess Sherry will come in handy after all; we can use her to lure Claire and Leon into our grasp." Steve smiled - "That's perfect." They grinned at each other, and started plotting their plan. They were all concerned about Claire. Leon - "Are you sure you're gonna be okay?" "Yeah, I really am fine." - Claire. They all looked at her with faces that were as if they were all saying "yeah right" inside. Claire - "Okay, so it hurts...a lot, but I can handle it. I just won't use or move my left arm that much." Chris - "I know you're tough and you can handle it, and that's a good thing cause we got some more shit to take care of." "And we really need to get to the lab and stop the process of the virus." - Rebecca. Chris - "And destroy Umbrella once and for all." Claire - "But we gotta find the lab first." "And since we don't actually know where the lab is, looks like we gotta split up again. Not only cause of that, but there are three different directions to head in. I think each way will eventually lead to the lab, though." - Jason. Leon - "Yeah, I guess that's our only choice, what room number is the lab?" Jason - "It's room 814." Leon - "That should be easy enough to remember, who's going which way?" Jason - "Well, I think that it's perfect, three teams of two. One girl and one guy on each "team." Leon and Claire, Jill and Chris, and me and Rebecca. We'll go right, Jill and Chris will go straight and," - pointing at Claire and Leon, - "You two will go off to the left." They all nodded at him, and each other in agreement. They were looking down the hall at the three different directions they would be headed down, then Jill looked back, and at Jason - "Whoa, what the hell's up with your eyes?" Jason - "Huh?" They all looked at his eyes and Chris said - "Yeah, what the hell? They look just like Wesker's and Steve's, explain that." Jason - "Oh, that's right. I thought I could hide it for a little while longer. Most of the time I can control that. Well, don't worry, I'm not evil or anything like that, trust me. It's just that, they needed to test the early stages of the Xeno T-virus on something. And since they really didn't care if I died, they went ahead and tested it on me. So I'm actually super human, but not stronger than Wesker. I don't know why the hell my eyes can do that though." "Cool." - Rebecca. Jason - "It actually is, but do you want to get to the lab or not?" Chris - "Yeah it's cool, if you're telling the truth." Rebecca - "Shut up, Chris. Anyway, what did you mean that you can only control it most of the time?" Jason - "Well, like when I'm pissed they'll change to the "evil" eyes; the yellow ones, or red. But if we wanna stop the process of the virus, we better go look for the lab." Then he changed his eyes back to his natural blue. Wesker and Steve were listening to their conversation. Wesker - "Good Jason. Splitting up Claire and Leon perfectly for us to pick them off. Steve - "Yeah, good. Claire and Leon are coming this way." "Perfect, they'll both be lured in. We'll put Sherry out right by a corner, so we can hide around it. And we'll have Sherry tied up, in a chair, and have her mouth gagged. When they run to her, we will come out from behind the corner and knock them out." - Wesker. "Best plan I ever heard, who are we gonna kill first?" - Steve. Wesker - "Well Claire of course, so Leon can watch her die. The only bad thing about this is that Chris won't get to see her die, since he's going with Jill a different way." Steve - "Yeah, that would've made it even sweeter." Wesker - "Yeah well, we're gonna lock Leon in a room, so he can see Claire die, and so can Sherry. You know how she's gonna die, you're gonna shoot her in her head. Of course, not before you make her scream, and I've got to see her cry. She always acts like the tough one, well now it's time to break her ass down!" "That will be so sweet to see." - Steve. Wesker - "Yep, and you gotta make it happen." Steve - "Don't worry, I will, no problem." "They're coming, we gotta go set this whole thing up. By the way, you've gotta stop saying 'sweet'" - Wesker. Steve nodded, and they headed back to the room where they had come from. Chris and Jill headed straight down the long, white corridor. Chris - "Ya know, you actually saved my life." Jill - "No I didn't, you saved yourself." "Actually, technically you did save my life by giving me that lock pick earlier." - Chris. "Yeah well I didn't exactly give it to you to save your life, didn't know that it would even come to that. I just wanted you to hold onto it for me." - Jill. Chris - "Yeah well, I never even thought that I would use it, but here." He took the lock pick out of his pocket, and reached out and put his hand in front of Jill. "I think you should actually hold onto it, after all, you might need it again." - Jill. Jill smiled at him. "No, just take it," - Chris said, leaving his arm stretched out, waiting for her to take it from him. Jill said - "Fine, stubborn..." and took it from his hand, and put it back into her side pack, as they both continued walking. Chris - "So what room are we looking for again?" Jill - "Room 814." "You should actually know where the lab is." - Rebecca said to Jason, as they rounded another corner, entering another empty hall. But she noticed that this time there were bloodstains on the otherwise white walls. "Yeah well I don't, I never really cared about it, cause I never thought somebody would come and try to stop it." - Jason. "Where do you think all of this blood came from?" - Rebecca. Jason - "Some kind of human." Rebecca gave him a sarcastic looking smile, - "Obviously." He returned the smile, and noticed that they were now approaching an intersection, that went left and right. Rebecca noticed the turns too, and turned her head at Jason, still walking, - "So which way are we going to go?" Jason - "Well, since we've already gone this far right, I'd say that we should go left this time." She nodded and as they got to the intersection, they couldn't help but look right first. "Well I think that was the source of the blood." - Jason. When they looked right, they saw that a zombie was crouched over a now dead scientist. They could hear the crunching noise it was making. There was a gaping hole in the gut, and the zombie just kept on eating, and feeding itself with human flesh and blood, until it apparently heard Rebecca and Jason. It turned its rotting and decaying head toward them. They saw what was left of its mouth; it was full of dripping blood. The few teeth that it had left were showing; they were rotting. There was also part of the brain showing, pink and purple tissue, liquids dripping down across the face. They also saw that it's left eye was missing, which they spotted on the floor, near the dead, gutted scientist, who's white lab coat wasn't white anymore, but covered in red, and his own intestines leaking out of his ripped open stomach. The zombie slowly rose to its bony feet, and slowly lifted its decaying arms, the right arm was even missing its right hand. Jason and Rebecca looked at each other, and she raised her Beretta, and pointed it at the undead creature. She shot three times. The first hit it in the neck, and the last two it in right in the head, pushing it down to the red stained floor, and died. The shots to the head had sprayed out purple and red fluids that splattered the walls. Jason took out his gun, walked over to the dead scientist, and aimed his gun at its head. He fired one single shot that penetrated the corpse's temple. When he looked away, he saw Rebecca staring at him. "So that he doesn't turn into a zombie later on." He shrugged and put a slight smile on his face. Rebecca smiled and said - "Right. Well, let's just get going the other way then." "Yep, let's do it." - Jason said with a grin on his face. So they turned the other way, left, and headed down the long corridor. They had only been walking a few minutes. Claire was still holding the wound on her left shoulder; it was still bleeding slightly. Leon - "Here." He had just remembered that he'd taken a cloth from the medical kit from the duffle bag he brought with him from the RPD station. He stopped her, and was wrapping the white cloth around her arm. "Ow." - Claire. Leon - "Sorry, there, now we can keep going. It should probably stop bleeding soon enough." "Thanks." - Claire. Leon - "No problem." The blood was already seeping through the whiteness, staining it red with blood. "You'll be alright." - Leon. They turned right, around another corner. Claire stopped Leon in his tracks when she saw Sherry at the end of the hallway. "Look." - Claire said softly. "Oh shit, she's tied up, well guess we gotta get her, be careful." - Leon. They ran down the quiet corridor cautiously toward Sherry, they didn't know why but Sherry was shaking her head as if saying "no." When they reached her they heard a voice, Wesker's voice, - "Hello kiddies, play time's over!" Leon - "Oh shit!" Steve and Wesker charged at them and knocked their heads up against the wall, which knocked them out cold. Wesker - "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha." When she woke up, she was strapped to a wall. There were leather straps across her feet, hands, and waist. She also had a major headache from her head being knocked against the wall. She remembered everything that had happened. She was thinking to herself about what did happen. We were running toward Sherry, because she was tied up in a chair. When we got to her we saw Wesker and someone else around the corner, I didn't get a good look at the guy that was with Wesker. Then, they both ran at them and obviously had knocked them out; it must've been a trap all along. Damnit, they used Sherry as bait, to lure us to them! She opened her eyes slowly, not knowing what to expect. She didn't see anyone around, at least not right by her. She saw Leon in a room far off to the right. They must've trapped him in there, she thought to herself. Leon was lying down on the floor, on his back. He wasn't conscious yet. Then she heard footsteps coming toward her, more than just two, so both of them were coming, she figured. She saw Wesker step around the corner and the other guy followed. She widened her eyes in disbelief, as she recognized him. Steve! She had forgotten that Chris said he was now with Wesker. She didn't want to have to deal with him, but she had figured that she probably would have come across him sooner or later anyway. Wesker said something to Steve, she couldn't hear what, though. Steve walked up to her, and said - "Claire. We meet again. You probably didn't expect to ever see me alive again, huh? Well Wesker helped me come back, helped me see the light." "It's not the right thing, he should've just let you stay dead. It would've been better that way." - Claire. "For who exactly? You're telling me that you really didn't even cared that I died or what?" - Steve. Claire - "I did care, a lot, but once someone is dead that's just how they should stay...dead." Steve looked at her, she was very aware of his inhuman eyes. "I love this, my new life that is. I'm stronger, and smarter than I was before I died. Wesker took me under his wing, taught me how to have the power! And for that, I will never be able to thank him enough. Like Wesker once said himself, I may not be human anymore, but look at all the power I've gained." - Steve. Leon woke up finally, his head throbbing. He lifted his head and slowly sat up, grunting with his obvious discomfort. He stood up, and walked towards the large window in front of him. He looked out and saw Claire, a man talking to her talking to her. "Claire!" - Leon said softly out loud. "Leon!" He heard a small girl's voice from behind him, so he turned around. And, he saw Sherry, still tied up in a chair, but nothing covering up her mouth. "Sherry! Are you okay?" - Leon. "I'm fine." - Sherry answered, and continued to speak, - "But you need to save Claire." "Yeah, I know, I just gotta find a way to get out of this room." - Leon. He looked around, and tried the door. It was locked, as he had suspected. It was a dead bolt, and another metal lock making sure that Leon would not be able to get it open. "Do you know who that guy is?" Leon asked Sherry. "Yeah, it's Steve." "Damn." - He muttered to himself under his breath. Now what, he though to himself. How am I supposed to get out of this goddamn room? I gotta save Claire somehow, but how? I just gotta come down and think, after all, I was a trained cop. I have experience dealing with bad situations, especially after all of the things I've had to deal with Umbrella. And, what have I always done? I've always gotten out of those predicaments, this is just another one. Now just think. Sherry - "What's wrong?" Leon was surprised by Sherry, not expecting her to talk much. He turned to her and looked at her. "Well, the door's locked, so I'm gonna have to figure out another way to get us out of here." - Leon. Sherry - "Oh, do you have a plan?" Leon - "Not yet, but I'm thinking." And he gave her a slight half-smile, not wanting her to worry. "Don't worry, there's always a way out of these kinds of situations." - Leon said, turning back away from facing Sherry, thinking of what he could possibly do to get out of this miserable place, to get them both out. Now he had Sherry to think of as well, he couldn't leave her there alone, it wasn't safe. Wesker then walked up to join the little conversation between Claire and Steve. Wesker - "So, have you two had a nice talk? Have you reminisced memories? Although I don't really give a shit either way." Claire - "You didn't have to bring him back! You should've just let him stay dead." "Oh but that wouldn't have been any fun, not for anyone, and I'm sure Steve here is pretty damn glad that I brought him back. I mean, I don't think anyone would rather be dead than be alive, especially if you have power." - Wesker. "What's the point of being alive if you can't do anything you want, if you're a slave that people order around?" - Claire. Steve - "I'm not a slave, I love what I'm doing, and Wesker is the coolest person I've ever known. He gave me life, and he gave me power! What wouldn't I be happy about?" Wesker - "It's time Steve." Steve nodded, as Wesker gave him a gun, and a knife. Steve put the knife on the floor, knowing he wouldn't use that; he would use the gun to shoot her. "Is it loaded?" - Steve. Wesker - "Yes. With one shot, that's all you'll need." "Okay." - Steve. "This is all up to you now, I'm not going to help out with anything, it's all you this time." - Wesker. Steve - "I'll take care of it, don't worry." Wesker - "Wait. Make her cry, remember? "Oh, yeah." - Steve. Claire was looking at them, her eyes darting between the two of them. Steve stepped closer, and punched her wound. "Ahh." - Claire. He punched it again, this time even harder than before, and she let out a louder scream of pain. And Wesker smiled, seeing her eyes become watery. Wesker - "Good work, love seeing that." Steve nodded slightly and half-smiled. Wesker - "Impress me Steve." Steve lifted the small handgun and aimed it at Claire's forehead. His hand was a little shaky, as if he couldn't do it, as if he was still in love with her. Wesker - "Do it. Remember, evil doesn't love, evil can't love. Well at least, evil can't love good." And then he turned and walked toward the room Leon was in. He stopped just outside the door, turned around and watched Steve. "Time to say a final good-bye Claire." - Steve. Claire was silent, not having really anything to say anyway. Leon saw Wesker standing outside of the door, and saw Steve pointing a gun at Claire's head. "Claire!" - Leon yelled. "Damnit!" He scratched his head, thinking fast, he had to do something, he had to save Claire. Damn, what am I gonna do? I don't have much time, he could kill her at anytime. He was still watching out of the window at the scene. He walked up to the window, and touched the glass. It's breakable, yes! He said to himself, finally thinking of a plan. It could get me hurt, but that's better than Claire dying. So he backed up in the room, all the way to the other side, until his back touched the wall. He braced himself for the impact. He then took off, and ran faster than he knew he could and jumped up into the air, aiming for the window. Luckily, it broke as he crashed into it, sending Leon tumbling to the floor, head tucked tightly to his chest. He landed on glass, but he pushed the pain aside running at Steve. The second Wesker saw Leon hit the ground, he thought about stopping him, but then he remembered that this was all up to Steve to handle, so he just looked on and watched. Leon ran as fast as he could, and tackled Steve when he reached him. Steve hadn't seen him coming, and when Leon hit him, he pulled the trigger, letting off a blast, and then the gun flew out of his hand. They both got up and Steve punched Leon, sending him across the room and into a wall. Leon looked up, at where Claire was, breathing heavily. "Thank God!" - He said softly. Claire had seen Leon running and when Steve pulled the trigger she shut her eyes as tight as she could, and braced herself for the bullet, but it didn't hit her. It had gone only a few inches to the left of her face; she felt the wind from it against her cheek. She felt it crack the wall next to her. Steve was facing away from Leon, looking at Wesker. Leon ran and picked up the gun and pulled the trigger, but it was empty so he threw it back down. Then he saw the knife, and felt some hope arise inside of him, though his side was aching. He grabbed for it, but just then Steve had turned around and kicked him right in his stomach, sending him up into the air. He landed with a thud. "Ugh." - Leon. Steve turned around again and raised his hands to Wesker, as if to say, "what are you doing just standing there." Wesker - "It's all up to you this time. I'm not helping, don't fail me." Leon slowly got to his feet, but not before reaching over and picking up the sliver combat knife. He ran at Steve and lunged it into his back, blood spilling out of the wound. Steve felt a sharp pain and turned around. Leon pulled out the knife and was about to stab him again, but Steve picked him up and threw him behind himself. When he turned around Leon stabbed him in his chest. "Shit, ugh." - Steve said, pulling the knife out from his own flesh. He put it above his head, and swung it at Leon, but he moved, so Steve accidentally stabbed himself, blood oozing from his stomach. "Damnit!" - Steve wailed in pain. His back was facing the direction in which Wesker was standing. Claire didn't see where Leon went, but she saw him when he came back, he was holding a huge weapon, but he was holding his side as well. Claire could see the blood that was seeping through his fingers. Leon had an axe, and hit Steve in the lower back with the blade, which sank into his flesh, and made a huge slit full of blood. Steve fell to the floor and rolled over, so that he was lying on his bloody back. Leon went over and un-strapped Claire, and she landed on the floor and stood all the way up. They both walked over and looked down at Steve, lying in his own pool of blood, his stomach covered with it, which still had the knife sticking out of it. Leon lifted the axe over his head. Leon - "Got anything you need to say to him?" Steve - "I never...would've...killed you...Claire." "Bullshit. And I was asking Claire." - Leon said angrily. She had a little bit of sadness in her eyes, and tears of pain, but while still looking down at him said - "There's nothing to say, he's already dead to me." And she walked around him, and just starting walking away, without looking back. After a short moment of just watching Claire, Leon looked back down at Steve, and swung the axe, slicing right through his neck and bone. Blood splattered everywhere, including on Leon, but he wiped it off. There was a pool of liquids between Steve head, and body. Leon looked down for a minute, then turned and walked off to catch up with Claire. They had been walking for a while now. "What time is it anyway?" - Jason. Rebecca - "I don't know, no watch. Do you think that any of the others have found the lab?" Jason - "I don't know, it's probably really hidden though, knowing Umbrella." Rebecca - "Yeah, you're probably right" They rounded another corner, and turned into another empty, white corridor. At the end of the long corridor was a turn, left and right. There was also a right turn in about the middle of the hall. They walked a few steps forward and then Jason stopped suddenly, followed by Rebecca doing the same. "Do you hear that?" - Jason. Rebecca - "Yes, what is it? It sounds like something's cracking." He looked at her and said - "Exactly, just keep moving." She nodded and they turned back toward the middle of the room, and started towards it. Then they froze again, right where the hall turned right. They both looked around. "Don't move." - Jason said, not moving. After a long moment of silence, they heard more cracking. They both looked down and then back up at each other, and said simultaneously - "Shit." And approximately two seconds later, the floor beneath them shifted, and caved in. They fell through it, and landed on a cold, damp floor. Jason landed on his stomach, Rebecca landed on her back. It was dark, and quiet and cold. "Think we're getting close to where the lab is? And what was the room number of it anyway?" - Chris. Jill - "I don't know. It could be anywhere for all we know. And, um, it was room 814. Ya know, you've been told that three times now." "Yeah, yeah. Anyway, I just wanna get all of this shit done, so we can go home and live even a partially normal life." - Chris. Jill - "Yeah, I know exactly what you mean." They could keep going straight, or turn right. They didn't even ask; they both just almost instinctively turned right. They were looking at each other. "If you could go back and change all of this, so that you never were a part of it, or make it so that none of this ever happened, would you?" - Chris. Jill looked at him with thoughtful eyes, and he reached out his hand and stopped her in mid-step. "Whoa." - Jill. He had stopped her from falling into a hole that was in the middle of the hall. They looked down into it, and saw Rebecca and Jason lying down on the ground. "I can't believe this shit! How could Steve be killed by that little...human?" - Wesker. Sherry - "I knew you wouldn't be able to kill Claire that easily." Wesker turned his head and looked at Sherry, and found her smiling. "Why are you smiling, you little brat. You have nothing to be happy about! Claire won't live for that much longer, and I still have you! And now that I come to think of it, what do I need you for now? Hmm, I'm thinking I can just kill you now. I'll think about if there are any possibilities of me being able to use you for anything. If I can't, I kill you." - Wesker. He saw her eyes widen, and laughed. Now, can I use her for anything? I'm not using her for bait again. Wesker suddenly felt a grin spread across his face. Got it! "Yes! Well, looks like you'll be living a little longer after all." Sherry looked up at him, and said - "Why? What are you going to do?" His grin got wider, - "I'm going to inject you with the T-virus. So, they'll have to kill you, won't that be nice? You know, Claire having to kill you and all. And you know, if by the time they find us, you haven't mutated, I'll just kill you, and then you'll come back, maybe. I'm not sure if you'll come back before they die, but if you do, they'll kill you." Sherry's eyes widened as Wesker grabbed a needle full of purple liquid and stepped up in front of her. "This won't hurt a whole lot, too bad huh? Heh, here ya go you little bitch!" - Wesker said, and then stuck the needle into her left arm, and watched her scream. Chris - "Rebecca, Jason!" Rebecca opened her eyes and blinked a few times. She looked up and said - "Oh, hey guys." She looked over to her right, and saw Jason lying there, - "Jason, wake up." He then lifted his head up, and rolled onto his back and looked up. Jason - "Well, it seems we've fallen, and can't get up." He smiled slightly. "I never even knew there was a place under those labs, weird." Chris - "Yeah well, you know Umbrella, they always have to have some kind of secret." They all shook their heads. Rebecca - "I guess we're just gonna have to find a way out." Jason - "I bet there are a lot of the Umbrella creatures down here, and that's why there weren't very many up in the labs." Rebecca - "Great, so we're in like the worst place or what?" Jason - "Maybe, I'm just guessing here but it's a pretty educated guess. Remember the underground tunnels? Well, this looks just like them." Jill - "Can you see anything down there?" Jason - "Not really. Hey, do either of you haven a shotgun with you?" Chris - "Uh, no, but I think Leon does." Jason - "Okay, then I guess we'll just have to wait for them to show up, if they do." "They will, just give them a few minutes. There's no way they're dead." - Chris. Jason - "I don't think they're dead, that's not what I meant. I just meant that they might not find this place, at least not for a while, so we're pretty much stuck here until they come." Rebecca - "Yep." Leon put is left arm around Claire, and his right arm against his bloody right side. "Did you mean what you said, about Steve already being dead to you?" - Leon. Claire - "Yeah. I mean, once you're gone, you're gone, at least you're supposed to be." Leon - "Well that's certainly not the case with Wesker. There's no denying that he's here, he's back after he died." "Yeah I know, that bastard. And of course he had to bring back another person, and do everything possible to destroy us." - Claire. Leon - "Yeah, but if you think about it, he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Umbrella." Claire - "Well, he might be. Just maybe not under these circumstances. He obviously found some other company." Leon - "True. But, they are just a rival company of Umbrella, so, it still comes back to them." Claire - "Yeah well, we're gonna put a stop to it. Oh and it's my turn to ask, are you alright?" Leon smiled - "Yeah, I'm fine. I don't think that it's as bad as it looks, just a lot of blood, but I'll be fine. Now we're both hurt." Claire - "Yep, so, right or just keep going straight?" Leon - "Straight, the lab is probably still pretty far down." She nodded her head, which was slightly leaning against Leon's left shoulder. They came to the turn, and kept going, but decided to look down in the direction to their right, then stopped. "I think I just changed my mind, let's go right." Leon said, and smiled. She smiled back, and they turned right, and headed toward Chris and Jill. "Hey!" - Claire. Chris and Jill both turned around and grinned. "Good, you're here." - Jill. Claire lifted her head off of Leon's shoulder. Chris - "You're eyes are red, what happened?" "Oh, that. Um, well, I was crying." - Claire. Chris - "Crying, why?" Leon interrupted, - "Steve's dead." Chris turned his attention to Leon, - "You met up with Steve huh?" Chris turned back to Claire, - "Oh wait, did he..." "Punched my shoulder...a few times, it hurt like hell." - Claire finished. "So what's going on here?" - She said, wanting to change the subject. Chris didn't take his thoughtful gaze off of her. Jill - "Just look down into the hole." Claire and Leon both stepped forward, and glanced down the hole in the floor. "O...k then." - Leon. Jason - "Oh good, you're here." He noticed their confused expressions and added - "We fell through the floor, as you can see. And, we're kinda stuck down here, so we gotta find a ladder or some other way to get back up there." Claire - "Ohhh." "Well, why'd you guys wait for us?" - Leon. Rebecca - "We were wondering if you had a shotgun." Leon - "Oh, okay. Yeah I got it." He had gotten it back after Wesker and Steve had taken it. He took his shotgun from his back strap. "Here." - He said, and knelt down and dropped the heavy gun down to Jason. He caught it and replied - "Thanks, now we can get going and search for a way out of these, uh, tunnels...I guess that's what they are anyway." "We're gonna come with you." - Chris said, motioning at himself and Jill. "We shouldn't let you guys do it alone." - Chris. Jason - "Um...actually...that would probably be a pretty good idea." He smiled, waiting for Chris to get it. Chris put a sarcastic half grin on his face, - "Funny." "I know." - Jason said, and smiled so that his white teeth were showing. Jill - "Men, you're so weird." Jill and Claire looked at each other and smiled. Jason looked up at Jill, and laughed - "Yeah, men, tsk, tsk, tsk. We're just so damn cool, huh? Especially me. I'm hot, funny, smart, and workout, I'm so damn perfect." They were all smiling now. Rebecca - "Anyway..." Chris - "Yeah, anyway. We should get going now." Leon - "We'll go too." Chris - "No ya won't. You two are hurt, so just stay here and rest. We'll be back soon enough, well, as soon as possible anyway." Claire and Leon looked at each other, Leon - "Fine, we'll just stay here while you fight." Chris - "Yep, ya will." Chris smiled, - "Okay Jill, let's go." He crouched down next to the hole, and sat with his feet over the edge. He then edged himself off, and landed in a crouch and stood up, - "C'mon Jill." He held out his arms. Jill - "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm coming, and I don't need you're help." She smiled. Chris - "Course not." He put his hands back down at his side, still smiling. She nodded her head once and crouched beside the edge of the hole. She pushed off of the floor and jumped down. The hole itself was about 20 feet deep. "See, told ya." - Jill. Chris - "Uh huh." Claire and Leon were standing, looking down at them. "Hey! Who are you?"- Came a man's voice from behind them. Jason said softly, - "Shit." Jill, Chris and Rebecca turned to look at him. Jason - "Charles." Claire and Leon turned around and saw a man in a white lab coat hurrying toward them, and pointing a gun their way. Leon instinctively pushed Claire gently behind him. Leon - "Whoa, don't shoot. We're friends with Jason." Charles - "You know Jason huh?" He sounded suspicious, - "Then where is he?" "Charles!" - Jason's voice came up loud. Charles looked around and then stepped forward, next to Leon and Claire, and glanced down. He raised his right eyebrow, Jason looked at Leon and nodded once, and Leon did the same. And, he stepped forward and pushed Charles down into the hole. He landed with a soft thud, on his stomach, and rolled over onto his back. Charles - "What's going on Jason?" "I met these guys earlier, they came to the mansion. You should recognize them." Charles's eyes widened, - "Them. What are you doing with them?" Jason - "Well, they're here to stop to Umbrella, and I've decided to help them." Charles - "But, but you're with Umbrella!" Jason - "I never really was, and never wanted to be. And, now I'm not. I'm doing the right thing, you want to?" They all saw Charles reach to his right, which was where his gun had landed. So, Jason squeezed his trigger and sent a bullet right into Charles's right shoulder, red blood oozed out. "Ugh." - Charles. "We're the good guys Charles!" - Jason shouted. "But I guess you just can't see that! You chose to work for Umbrella, so I have no choice but to kill you!" "No." - Charles whispered. There was a moment of silence, Jason just stared down at him, breathing hard. Then, he started shaking his head back and forth slightly. He lifted his gun and without any hesitation whatsoever, he pulled the trigger, sending a bullet straight into Charles's skull, marking a little red circle in his forehead. Jason lowered the gun and stepped about 15 feet into the dark tunnel. He shut his eyelids as tight as he could, clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white, and he let out a loud, angry, frustrated yell. "DAMNIT!" When he walked back to them they could hear him breathing heavily, and saw his eyes were yellow. Jill leaned in close to Rebecca and whispered into her ear, - "He's pissed." Rebecca whispered back, - "Oh yeah, how could you tell?" Jill - "Just a hunch." "Damnit!" - Jason repeated. He was starting to calm down a bit. He thought to himself, damnit Charles. Figures I'd have to end up killing you. Everything about Umbrella is seriously screwed up. Every one of them is gonna end up getting killed in the end anyway though, and my dad's already gone; killed by me, his own son. But he was trying to kill Rebecca, and I couldn't let that happen. But he still ended up killing Barry. But now he can't hurt anyone else, cause he's dead. "We should get going," - Chris's soft voice broke him of his train of thought, and they shook their heads, and he nodded along with them. Claire called from above them, - "Careful." Chris - "But of course." Chris smiled at her, and she smiled back. Jason, Chris, Jill, and Rebecca then proceeded into the darkening tunnel, out of sight, but not out of mind. Leon - "Well, I guess all we can do is just rest while we wait for them to find their way back up here." "Yeah, I guess. It's just hard to rest at a time like this, to just sit around and do nothing except wait." Leon - "Yeah, I know what you mean." They both stepped over to the wall, so that the hole was to their left. They put their backs against the cool wall, and slid slowly down, until they were in a sitting position. Claire was to Leon's left, and he put his left arm around her, and pulled her in closer to him. She moved willingly, and rested her head on his chest. She could hear his heart beating. She closed her eyes, trying to clear her mind, but couldn't find the strength. She was exhausted, but couldn't seem to fall asleep. She kept her eyes shut though, still resting. She couldn't help but think about what was going to happen next, and kind of didn't want to find out. So, she just sat there, resting her head against Leon's chest, listening to his heart, his warm, strong arm holding her close. After a minute she drifted off, not so much into a sleep as to unconsciousness. Leon closed his eyes. He was tired, and his side was aching, but he could bare it. He held Claire close, protectively. I already lost Ada back in October, I'm not going to lose you, Claire. She must know I like her, she's perfect, and beautiful. But...something's missing. I feel like I'm forgetting something here...hmmm. Holy Shit! That's what I forgot all about! Sherry! I was just concentrating on saving Claire and killing Steve, I wasn't thinking about her at all. I just hope she's okay. We're gonna have to find her, but for now, we both just need to rest. He leaned his head back against the wall, and fell into a light sleep. They continued down the almost totally black tunnel in silence. Jason held the shotgun tightly in his hands. He had counted the shots, twelve. Leon had also given him an extra shell to hang on to. So, altogether that was nineteen shots. He hoped that that would be enough to last them the rest of the journey through the darkness. Jason - "I'm surprised we haven't even come across anything yet." Chris - "Don't jinx it." "You believe in that shit?" - Jason. But before he could answer, there was a thumping coming from up ahead and to the right, that echoed throughout the silence of the tunnel. Chris looked at him and said, - "Told you." Jason - "Aw shut up." And he raised the shotgun, aiming into the darkness ahead. It wasn't quite in their view yet, but they all already knew what it was. A Hunter, of course. Then they saw it. The dark green, scaly skin, and the long claws attached to its massive arms. And the eyes. They moved to the side as Jason stepped forward, the Hunter approaching rapidly. The giant reptile was ten feet away from them when he let off two explosive rounds directly into the chest of it. It stumbled back and fell to the ground, Jason still aiming the shotgun at the fallen Hunter. He knew it would get back up. Come on, just get up. As he said it to himself, it rose quickly, and Jason let off two more rounds and the Hunter flew backwards, landing on its back, creating a large, red pool of sticky blood. It wouldn't be getting back up. Some of its blood and green fluid splattered a little bit on Jason's face, so he wiped the stuff off with the back of his right arm, and lowered the heavy gun. Chris stepped in front of him and shook his head. "Actually, I don't believe in that crap. Of course, I don't think any of us believed in zombies and monsters until Umbrella happened." Jason - "Yeah well. I know I didn't believe in all this shit. Actually, I still don't think I do, as weird as that sounds. It still doesn't really seem possible for these things to exist. It's just totally...unreal." Chris nodded, and looked at everyone, and then the Hunter. "Like that...thing." This time, they all nodded. Jill - "So..." Rebecca - "So let's just move on from here." Jason - "I'll agree to that." "Yeah, we all do." - Chris said, shaking his head. They all turned toward the darkness that stretched out into the tunnel and entered it. Footsteps, they both heard them, they were walking toward the intersection at a steady pace. "Aww, how cute! You two make a great couple, too bad you won't be a couple for long, unless you are in, well, wherever you go after you die, together." - Came a calm, smooth voice from the end of the hallway, to their right. Leon opened his eyes and turned his head to the right. When he saw what was down at the end, his eyes widened and he stood up, pulling Claire along with him. "Claire! Look!" - Leon. Claire turned and looked, and her mouth literally dropped open. "Aw shit!" - Claire. Wesker laughed and said - "That's right Claire!" Leon and Claire said it softly and simultaneously - "Sherry!" They looked at each other, and started moving quickly toward Wesker and Sherry. "Stop! Don't come near us or you know I will kill her," - Wesker said, and pulled out a sharp knife from his belt, and held it up close to Sherry's neck. He had a grin on his face, and had her in a type of headlock, his arm around her, though both of them standing straight up. "Don't hurt her Wesker. You don't want her, she's just a kid." - Claire. Wesker - "Screw you. Who says I don't want her? Who says she won't do me good? But, you are right, I don't need her anymore! I'll trade her for you. Lose her, gain you, and she really doesn't mean anything to me anyway. I mean, what could I possibly use her for now? Hmm, how about to lose some of my frustration? Yeah, that sounds like fun." Claire was watching him intently, very concerned for Sherry even more than herself or Leon. What the hell is he gonna do? She thought to herself. What could he possibly want with her? Claire - "What do you want with her Wesker?" Wesker - "Nothing really. After all, she won't be human soon enough anyway. I injected her with the T-virus. So now, you won't want her anymore either." Claire - "What?" "Yeah, that's right. I figured that if she did actually live, and transform, it would be quite a show to see you have to kill her." - Wesker. Leon - "No way!" Wesker - "Yes...way! Dumbass. Say good-bye!" Just then, Wesker pulled the knife away from the young girl's neck, lifted it back and up into the air, and brought it back down and stabbed Sherry in the chest. Blood flowed out of the hole, Wesker dropped Sherry, - "See ya, enjoy the last of your lives, kiddies." And he took off to his left, down the way he had come. "Ahhh!" - Sherry cried out in pain, as she fell to the floor, on her knees. Claire - "No! Sherry!" And then her and Leon ran over to her, and knelt down beside her. Leon put his hand on her back and looked into her face along with Claire. Sherry - "Just leave me." Claire - "We can't. Did Wesker really inject you with the virus?" "Yes. And I'm...dying...so just let...me go, you have...to stop...Wesker." - Sherry managed to gasp. Then she just collapsed down on the cold floor. She fell on her stomach and they rolled her over and Claire shook her, but got no response. "Sherry." - Claire said softly. "It was so funny." - Wesker said, stepping out from around the corner down at the right end of the corridor. "She screamed," - Wesker said, grinning. Claire and Leon both stood up and turned to face him. Claire - "Bastard!" Wesker, still grinning, said - "Yep, catch ya later." And he again took off, going back around the corner. Claire looked back down at Sherry's small, lifeless body lying sprawled out and she went back to kneeling next to her. Leon followed. As Claire started to cry, Leon reached over and held her tightly. "Go!" - Chris shouted as he turned and started to run himself. They hadn't gone very far since they had killed the last Hunter, stumbling through the twisting tunnels. They had heard a deafening shriek from behind them only a few seconds earlier. When they had turned around to see what it was that had made the cry, they had seen another Hunter charging and coming straight at them. The girls were running right behind Chris, Leon to his left, and Jason easily passing all of them. Chris saw Jason slow down, and turn around, so he got down into a crouch, still kind of running as best he could. Jason - "Get down!" At his command, they all dropped down onto their stomachs on the cold ground, and put their heads down. Jason stepped forward, getting ready to fire. The Hunter took one more step and suddenly leapt into the air, and flying at Jason. It jumped about fifteen feet and landed only about five feet away from where he stood. It had jumped clear over the other as they were still lying down. Jason - "Whoa." He backed up as the Hunter took a swipe at him with its giant, sharp claws, and actually got so close to ripping into Jason's flesh, it tore his shirt. He raised the shotgun and fired three rounds at the huge reptile. The first hitting it in its neck, and the other two getting it right in its head. Brains and green flesh, sprayed out as the head came completely off of its body. It fell to the ground, making a puddle of blood where the head used to be, the bone of its spine was showing through the dark red of the neck. "Uh, you can get up now, heh." - Jason. Slowly, they all rose and stretched, while looking down at the mutilated corpse of the decapitated Hunter. "Well that's...interesting." - Rebecca. Jason - "What is?" Rebecca - "Where's its head?" They looked around, Jason - "I guess...I blew it up." It sounded more like a question than a definite answer, but they all accepted it anyway, and nodded along. Everyone was just looking around, and at the splattered remains of some of the Hunter. Jason - "O...k. I guess we should go ahead and..." He was cut off by a shriek and then multiple thumping sounds coming from behind Rebecca, Chris, and Jill. Jason tilted his head to the right and looked behind them and didn't see anything, but he knew that there was no mistaking that sound. "Great, figures. Can't just let us get lazy for a second." - Jason. They turned around and looked for the attackers, but their gaze was lost to the blackness of the tunnels from where they had come. They just stared for a moment, until they saw three dark figures come out of the shadows. Jill - "Ah shit! Three of the damn things!" Jason - "Yeah okay, now I think we should definitely go." Jason reached out and grabbed Rebecca's hand, and pulled her toward him. Jason - "Come on, run!" He turned and started sprinting, taking Rebecca along with him; he had practically pulled her off of her feet. Chris and Jill started to run as fast as they possibly could as well. Jason wasn't as fast as Wesker, but he was still very fast. . "I just can't believe it." - Claire said, still crying a little bit. "I know." - Leon said softly, and repeated it even softer, - "I know." Claire - "I just don't understand. I mean, what the hell could he possibly have wanted with Sherry in the first place? Nothing, absolutely nothing. At least nothing that I can see." Leon - "Actually. Not necessarily. He could've thought of something he could use her for." "Then, what?" - Claire asked, looking up at him. He looked down at her for a few seconds in silence, and then thought of an idea, and explanation. Leon - "Well, he did tie her up earlier, and put her out in that hall while him and Steve hid around the corner. And when we got to her, they knocked us out. And then, just a little while ago, he came again with her to us. So I'm thinking that he was just using her to lure us to him, to get closer to us. You heard him yourself, he injected her with the T-virus so that if she came back, she'd be some kinda of mutated monster, and we'd have to kill her, and it would be to his own amusement." "Yeah, but she was just a twelve-year-old girl, how could somebody do something like that?" - Claire. Leon - "The key word there is was. And Claire, it's Wesker, remember? He's capable of absolutely anything, and he'll try to do anything that he wants or desires." "I don't care who he is, it's just not something people can do." - Claire. Leon - "But he's not a person, Claire. He's not human, you gotta remember that." She nodded a few times, slowly, still not feeling very convinced. Leon - "He's evil." Evil. That single word repeated in her mind multiple times. Leon's right, she thought to herself. As much as I hate this, it happened, and it is happening. Sherry's dead. And we're going to carry out her final words, not just for her, but for us, and everyone else that has suffer from him. Wesker's gonna die, I'll see to it. He doesn't deserve to live. He's evil. Claire - "I know you're right, it's still hard to grasp. But I guess after all the shit we've been through, I guess this isn't the weirdest, or scariest. He's just such a freaking bastard." "You like that word don't you? Anyway, he is, and he will pay for everything he's put everybody through. He's going down!" - Leon said angrily. "Stop!" - Jason said, as he slowed to a halt, putting his arm out and stopping Rebecca. Jill and Chris slowed as well. Jason - "No, just Chris. Jill, you come to me and Rebecca." The two girls looked at Chris and hurried to catch up to where Jason was standing. Chris - "Why me? The Hunters are still coming." Jason - "See that button next to you on the wall to your left? Well, try pushing that." Chris looked to his left and saw the button that Jason was talking about. It was small, maybe the size of a quarter, and dark blue. Chris was reluctant, but knew that every second counted, and that every second wasted could mean his death, their death. He raised his hand and pushed the button. It went in, and came out. There was a sound from above, and Chris looked up. He couldn't tell what it was, but decided that he didn't want to just stand there and find out the hard way. He jumped forward, rolling into a hunched ball. He was right to move, because only a second after Chris had jumped, a big section, block, of the cement ceiling came crashing down to the ground. There was a big boom, and then the block was rising again. Chris - "Whoa, that was too close." Jason nodded, and replied, - "Good. I mean, not good that it almost killed you, but that I was right and pushing that button causes the ceiling to come down and crush anything beneath it." Rebecca - "So what good does that do us?" Jason - "Don't you see? We can use that to kill the Hunters. After all, we don't got the shotgun or any other possible ammo we could use against them." They had used the rest of the shotgun ammo on two other Hunters that had come from ahead of them, when they were being chased by the three behind them. And there had been that one...Night Demon creature thing. That took more firepower to kill than the Hunters. They had barely killed the two in time to get away from the three, and Jason had thrown the shotgun off to the side, considering they couldn't use it anymore anyway. "We just wait until the Hunters get there, which they're about to be, and you push the button, and it'll crush 'em." - Jason finished. Chris - "Still think it should be you, you're faster." The thumping grew louder and the three creatures appeared from around the corner and started for Chris. He blew out a breath and got into position, putting the middle finger of his right hand less than an inch away from the little blue button. "Jeez, just let this work without getting me killed." - Chris said to himself under his breath. All of the Hunters were five feet away from him when he pushed the button as hard as he could. He felt a sharp pain in his stomach and he fell backwards, landing sprawled on his back. One of the animals had clawed him, knocking the wind out of him, but also knocking him out of the way of the crushing cement ceiling. He felt the wind from the cement block against his body as it came flying down in a flash. There was a loud crunching sound from beneath it, as well as a type off splattering noise. When it hit the ground, blood and dark matter sprayed from underneath it and was around the edge of the block. It started to rise, and the sticky blood dripped down from it. When it was high enough, they could all see the remains of the Hunters, though there wasn't that much of them left anyway. Everything was crushed. There were a few bones, which were also smashed and had pools of red blood covering most of them. Blood was all over the ground, along with green flesh, tissue, fluids and liquids, and even the purple and pinks of their brains. Jill - "Sick." They hurried over to Chris, who was still lying on his back. His shirt was torn, and there were three slashes going into his stomach. Chris put his hand to the wounds, and he felt the warmth of the blood. His hand came off bloody. Rebecca - "They're not too deep, you got off lucky." Jason shrugged, - "Well...at least it worked." "Take your shirt off, I'll use it to wrap around you, try to stop the bleeding." - Rebecca. Chris nodded and sat up slowly. He was a little light-headed, but he felt pretty much all right, like himself. He took off his shirt and handed it over to Rebecca. She got on her knees, and went over to his back and wrapped it around him. She tied it tightly, and Jason helped him stand up. Jill walked around and stood in front of him. "You okay?" - She asked softly. He smiled, - "I'll be fine." Claire - "I hope they get here soon so we can get out of this damn hallway." "God I know. This place is totally screwed up." - Leon. Claire - "That bastard's gonna pay so much. I just want to torture him and make him tell us everything he knows. Like how did this all start in the first place, and how he would feel about us cutting off his head, slowly." Leon couldn't help a little smile and a small laugh. She jabbed her elbow into his stomach playfully. Leon - "Hey." Claire - "That wasn't supposed to be funny." She now wore a smile also. Leon - "Uh huh, whatever girl." She looked back down at Sherry's body, her smile fading. Claire - "Poor Sherry." Leon - "Hey, at least she can't be hurt or tortured any more. It's gonna be okay." And with those words, Leon put his head down and kissed Claire on her lips. Rebecca - "I think I saw something over by where we were just standing." They all looked over at her, interested. Jason - "Okay, lead the way." She turned and started walking back to where Jason, Jill, and her stood just moments ago. The others followed her. She turned left when they came at the dark intersection, noticing that the tunnel stopped only about thirty feet away. Jason - "Huh, what did you see?" Rebecca - "Trust me, I saw something, now come on. The closer we get, the easier it'll be to see it, duh." Jason - "Man, shut up. I knew that, I was just wondering what it was you thought you saw." Rebecca - "Fine. A ladder, if you must know." Jason - "Oh, okay, well that's good." "Yeah, now if you don't mind, I think we should keep going until we get there." - Rebecca said, tilting her head towards the end of the black passage. Jason - "Right." Jason winked his right eye at her, and she smiled, - "Okay then, let's just focus on what's in front of us, not what's on your mind." He licked his lips, looked her up and down, and smiled. He raised both of his eyebrows and said - "I can try." Chris was now tapping his foot. Rebecca - "Okay Chris, we can go." Chris - "Nah, I'm really enjoying this show, really I am." They had a little laugh, and turned back toward the tunnel leading to the ladder and continued, their footsteps echoing through the otherwise silent passage. They got to the end and sure enough, there was a ladder there. Jill - "Good call." Rebecca smiled slightly - "Why thank you." Jason - "Damn straight. Now let's actually try going up it." Chris stepped forward and put one hand on the seventh rung and looked up. "I'll go first." - He said, beginning to climb up. He reached the top and held on to the top rung with his left hand, and pushed on the door at the top with his right. He pushed as hard as he could but he couldn't even get it to move a little bit. Chris - "Damn, I can't get it." Jason - "Here, let me do it." Chris didn't bother climbing down, he just jumped off because the ground was only about eight feet below. "Ow, shouldn't have done that." - Chris said as he grabbed at his stomach. Jason ignored Chris and started up the ladder, the rungs cold and dripping with freezing water. He got to the top and pushed at the small, heavy door. It came open easily, for Jason, and he climbed back down. Jason - "Well, that was simple. Probably could've just jumped up, too." Chris - "Yeah. It should be for you. You are super human." Jason put on a goofy smile, - "Okay, Rebecca, you go first." "Ha, ha, nice try." - Rebecca. Jason - "Aw, I'm serious. Just do it." She waited for a moment, then nodded and started up the ladder. She got to the top and lifted herself into the room that the ladder led into. She turned around and looked down, - "Okay, Jill's turn." So she climbed all of the way and Rebecca helped her climb out. "I'll go last." - Jason said, nodding at Chris and then the ladder. So he got up and to where Jill and Rebecca were waiting for him. After Jason had just about reached the top, there was a noise, and Jason saw a dash of movement out of the corner of his left eye. Jill - "What was..." Jason cut in. "Shut up." And then they were silent, waiting for something but not sure what. And then it was there, skittering across the ladder, across Jason's fingers, causing him to let go and drop back to the ground. The back of his head slammed against the hard concrete, and at that same moment, Jason also saw the cause of his fall. A licker, or censor-licker; the resemblance was the same. "Ah, shit," he said, as much from the discovery as from the pain that shot through his skull on the impact. I ain't even gonna mess with that, he thought to himself as he boosted himself up and back onto his feet, as fast as he could. "Screw that," he yelled out loud, and jumped up the ladder as fast as possible, practically jumping the whole way up with just one hop. He clung to the last rung and pulled himself up and into the new room. He leaped over the door that was still lying on the floor and pushed it over the open hole with his foot. The licker was so close to getting through that the door actually crushed one of its claws, spewing green and red blood out of the crack with a squishing noise. It was still alive, no doubt, but at least it couldn't get through to them. They still had ammo, but didn't want to waste any of it on that damn thing if they didn't have to, which now, they didn't. They could hear its clattering claws tapping on the metal as it kept scurrying across it, hopelessly trying to get through to the four of them, looking for blood. They just stared down for a moment, lost in thought. Chris was thinking to himself, we gotta get to Claire and Leon, who knows what's happening there. While Jason was thinking of how close that had been. Rebecca was kind of worried about Chris, and Jill just wanted to get the hell out of there. Jill was the first to break the eerie silence. "Okay, we can go now." They all turned their heads to her and nodded in agreement; none of them wanted to be in the same place long. They were all on the same side of the door, and turned to walk to the right and out into another of the mansion's many halls. Besides, the room wasn't anything special to look at; a couple of desks with large stacks of paper on them, along with one small desk lamp on each. This room was all white; the walls and ceiling, like all of the others they'd been in that night. Rebecca - "I'd take a better look at that later, Chris." He just nodded and kept on walking with them, seeming like he wasn't paying any attention to her statement. They better be okay, Chris said silently in his mind. I might just go off if anything has happened to them, especially Claire. Claire was the only family he had left, and he loved her more than life itself. He would do anything for her, anything at all, and that meant that he would die for her without giving it a moment's thought. Jill - "What are you thinking about?" Chris snapped out of it and turned to Jill. "Nothing, why?" Jill - "Oh, only because you're about to walk into that wall." Chris looked back ahead of him and stopped in his tracks. "Oh." Jill - "So...answer my question. What were you thinking about?" Chris looked hesitant, but answered anyway. "Claire. She, and Leon, better be alright." Jason - "All the more reason to hurry." They all turned to the right and, of course, it was yet another white corridor. This time when the corridor ended it turned to the right. They were all getting sick of the whiteness of the long halls in which the mansion and underground labs held. They reached the end after about one minute and looked down the right side, scoping it out before going out into it. And down, not too far away, were Claire and Leon...kissing. And next to them, was a body, obviously dead. Chris - "They're kissing, and there's a dead body next to them. What's wrong with that picture?" Jason - "Looks like...Sherry. He must be comforting her. But you must've known they would hook up sometime, it's pretty damn obvious they like each other." Chris - "Wait, you know Sherry? How?" Jason looked serious and upset when he said - "Let's see what's up." And he took off jogging down to where Leon and Claire. They started after him. Jason - "Hey. What happened here?" At that, they stopped kissing and stood up immediately and looked at him. Claire - "I was trying not to think about that." Jason - "I could kinda tell." Leon - "Wesker came and...killed..." Jason turned and stared down at the young girl's corpse. "Sherry," - he said softly. Claire stepped up beside him and turned to him. "How did you know her?" For several moments there was complete and utter silence, Jason trapped in his own thoughts. God, Sherry. I can't believe this. After all I've lost, now this...I lose her too. You were the only one I had left, and now you're gone. Should I tell them? Yeah, they'll figure it out sooner or later anyway. Rebecca - "Jason?" Rebecca snapped him out of his train of thought. Jason looked at her. "Yeah, I'm...here." Then a few seconds later continued, speaking quietly. "I knew her because she was...my sister. Well...step-sister anyway." He looked around and saw their shocked and confused gazes, so he went on and finished. "Same mom, different dads." Claire - "Your mom was Annette Birkin?" Jason - "Yep. No one liked to think about it though, no one ever really mentioning it to anyone." Leon - "So you lost your mom, dad, and step-sister." "And step-mom, and my girlfriend." - Jason added. Rebecca - "You lost your girlfriend too? Why would Umbrella kill her?" Jason took a minute to answer, the pain building inside of him. "They were afraid I would tell her about all of the shit that was going down here. They saw her as a threat. And you all know how much Umbrella just loves eliminating threats. Even if the people are innocent." Chris - "True, very true. And we're gonna put a stop to that tonight." Jason - "Actually, it's almost morning." "Damn, it's already been that long? Oh well, then we'll stop them today." - Chris. Claire - "We have to." Chris put his arm around her shoulder. "Now, about you and Leon..." Claire - "No. Not about that...about..." Whatever Claire was going to say was cut off by a woman's scream. They all looked up and around at each other, listening for another yell or noise so that they could try to tell where it was coming from. Again. It was coming from the one direction they hadn't gone yet. Where Jason and Rebecca were going to turn but the floor caved in and stopped them. They started running toward the hole, stopping right in front of it. Leon - "Uh, ain't that a little far to jump?" They turned and looked at Jason. Chris - "Not for him." Jason - "So, what am I supposed to do exactly? Carry you across, or up the wall?" Rebecca - "You can go up the wall?" Jason - "Yeah. I can run across walls, just like Wesker." They were all thinking... "Fine. But this might be a little weird. I've never held a guy before...oh well." - Jason. Rebecca shook her head. "Get on with it." Jason smiled - "Okay, you first then." He grabbed Rebecca, holding her tightly against his body. He backed up, charged and jumped onto the wall and ran. He jumped down and let go of Rebecca. "Well...that was interesting...anyway, go get them." - Rebecca. "Duh," - he replied, and jumped back over to the other side in about one second. Jason - "Next. We'll just jump across, I think it's easier." Claire stepped forward and he brought her to the other side where he had taken Rebecca. Then he did the same with Jill and Leon. Lastly, it was time for Chris. Chris - "Trust me, I don't want you holding me." Jason nodded and spoke slowly, mocking him. "That is very good to know Chris." Chris - "Shut up." Jason took him over to the other side and they heard it again. "Please don't kill us!" Rebecca - "That voice sounds familiar." They turned simultaneously at the plea, and started towards it in a hurried walk. Pretty far down the corridor, there was a room with a giant bulletproof window, and several figures that they could see inside. Three, four people were tied up from what they could see. They rushed toward it, Rebecca seemingly wanting to get there first. Jason was running right beside her, and stopped her by holding out his arm before she reached the intersection. Rebecca's mouth dropped open as she stared in wide-eyed amazement into the room in front of them. She stopped for a moment to get a quick glance at the others behind her. Leon had practically the same astonished look on his sweaty face. Jason looked around and noticed that only two of them, Rebecca and Leon, looked surprised at what lay before them. "Uh, do you two know them or something?" - Chris asked, gazing between both of them. She was the first to answer Chris's question, the question they all wanted to know. "Kinda. Two of them, the ones on the right, well left from our view, are my parents." "The other two our mine," - Leon added. Jill - "Shit. What are we gonna do?" Jason - "...Uh...what can we do?" Rebecca - "Well we gotta do something!" "Rebecca!" They turned again toward the room, and Rebecca said back, - "Mom...dad... what happened?" Rebecca's mom - "We're not totally sure. A guy, with short, blonde hair and these messed up looking eyes, came and got us and brought us here. He must've knocked us unconscious because we don't remember being brought here. And they were already here when we woke up." She nodded her head toward Leon's parents. Jason shook his head, fully understanding. "Wesker. He brought them here. He must've known you'd be back here, trying to put a stop to Umbrella. He wanted them here to bring more pain." Rebecca's mom - "But what are you doing here, what's going on? And why haven't you talked to us for so long?" Rebecca looked down, and then back up. "I...I couldn't. I couldn't take that chance of Umbrella tracking you or us down. A lot of...stuff has happened since last July, since we got suspended from the S.T.A.R.S., and since we took on the murder cases. We found out about what Umbrella was really doing; experimenting with dangerous viruses on species and humans. And, there was an accident where the virus got out, and created...well...zombies, along with other creatures." Rebecca started toward the room, but Jason stopped her. "Don't." "Jason, those are my parents!" - Rebecca yelled, pointing at the room. Jason shouted back. "You know what will happen to you if you try to or do get in that room...and I'm not gonna let it!" Rebecca crossed her arms and looked over at Leon, who wore a far-off look on his face. "Leon? Aren't you concerned, those are your parents." Leon blinked and shook his head as if to clear it. "Yeah. Sorry, of course I'm concerned. It just seems so surreal now that it hit home. Course, I never really liked my parents a whole lot, sometimes they were cool. I mean, they don't deserve die, but..." He trailed off. Rebecca - "But what?" Leon - "I...don't know. I just use that for an ending when I don't know how to finish a sentence." "Oh well that's great, really great. That helps me a whole lot, thanks." - Rebecca shot back, irritated and frustrated. Leon tilted his head. "Well you don't gotta be a bitch about it." Rebecca's dad - "Did you just call my daughter a bitch young man?" Rebecca rolled her eyes. Leon's mom - "I've never heard you swear before, I thought you were better than that." Jason - "Okay, just shut up. We need to talk, we meaning us, and not you, the parents." He turned his to the others. Rebecca's mom - " How dare you talk to us like that!" Jason turned his attention back to them, turning his eyes yellow. "Shut the hell up! We need to talk, which means you don't!" His voice was strong and commanding. And then, of course, they were silent. He turned back to the others, eyes still yellowish-orange. Jill - "You gonna change those back?" Jason - "No. Not yet anyway; I'm still pissed. We need to discuss some shit. Now what exactly, I'm not sure, but I know that we better discuss..." "No. You don't need to talk about anything else. You guys have done enough talking." - Wesker's smooth voice broke in. Chris looked up. "Damn! Does he have those friggin things up everywhere?" Wesker - "Basically. Anyway, now that your parents are all caught up with the current and past events, they can die. Actually, they were gonna die anyway, but I think it'll be more fun now. Of course, it would've been fun for me no matter what. I do love watching people die." Claire - "You're sick!" Wesker - "Why thanks, Claire. I like getting compliments, especially from hotties. So, Jill, give me a compliment, you're hot. I mean, how many of you girls can really say you don't think I'm cute?" Jill - "Ew, I don't think you're cute. And that seems like something Jason would say, not you." But the other two girls remained silent. The others looked at them. Rebecca - "What?" Claire - "Yeah, I mean, he's...cute." Chris - "That turned into a weird conversation." Jason cleared his throat. "Anyway..." Wesker - "Yeah, anyway. Like I said before, enough chit-chat. It's time for some people to die. And, a little warning, there will be more people dying a little later. Most likely...oh look at that, six!" There was a sound, like a mechanism and swishing. Jason - "The glass of the window...it's unbreakable, Wesker wouldn't have it any other way. Course, neither would Umbrella." Leon - What's your point?" Jason closed his eyes. "Look into the room." Everyone but Jason looked into the room. Instead he kept his eyes closed and head facing down. Jason - "He's gonna drown them huh?" Rebecca - "Shit. He is." As they said that, they could see water leaking into the room at an enormous rate. They all ran to just outside of the room. Chris - "Try to get the door open, Jason!" Jason - "I'll try." He backed up pretty far and started running, his target the door, but he already figured that even he wouldn't be able to get it open, that nobody without a key would. He crashed his shoulder into the door. It moved inwardly a little, but there was no way in hell it was going to open, Jason thought. "I can't. It ain't gonna open. It's solid, and very much locked." Rebecca had a helpless look in her soft brown eyes, and Leon just stared into the room, disbelief across his young face. The water now rose above the four of their parents' waist, making its way up their chests. Rebecca - "No!" Jason - "Look...there's nothing we can do now. I'm sorry..." He looked into the room and back at Rebecca and Leon. "...say good-bye." Tears started welling up in Rebecca's eyes as she started pounding hopelessly on the glass. In the room, they could see the four people yelling, their mouths open, yet they could hear no sound. Must've been a sound-proof room, and Wesker flipped a switch to make sure we couldn't hear them shouting, Jason thought to himself. I would've figured he'd want them to hear their parents last words, that would be true torture... The water rose quickly up to their necks and past their mouths; they wouldn't make it, that's for damn sure. Jason saw that their parents had given up, and were beginning to float up. Rebecca sank to the floor, putting her head down, tears running down her cheeks. "Aw, don't act so innocent, evil is in all of us, including all of you. It's just a matter of who uses it." - Wesker. Jason turned around and saw him standing at the end of the long hall, grinning, like he always did. Wesker - "Hey Jason. How have ya been? Actually, don't answer, cause I really couldn't care less." Rebecca looked up and at him, her eyes red. Wesker - "Aww, are you crying little girl?" Jason - "You sorry son of a bitch!" Jason started walking toward him at a fast pace, and Wesker disappeared around the corner, which turned right. Chris grabbed his arm, pulling him around. "Don't go after him, you could get hurt." "Oh and you're gonna stop me?" For a moment they just stared at each other. Jason - "Well you can't stop me if you're on your ass." He brought back his right arm and punched Chris, knocking him down to the floor on his back. Jason - "Screw you." And then he took off down the corridor heading for the turn. When he got to the end he stopped because of what he saw. "Shit!" - he said quietly. Then he saw Wesker pull the trigger of his gun, sending a bullet into the lower left side of Jason's stomach, and causing him to fall back against the wall and go down into a sitting position. Wesker once again disappeared, this time behind the next corner, which was to the left. "Jason!" - Rebecca called out when she saw him get shot. She ran to him, along with the others, tears still sliding down her face. She crouched beside him and took a look at the bullet hole. Rebecca - "Damnit, the bullet's still lodged in there. I'm going to have to pull it out." She reached her hands out toward the wound, but Jason stopped her. "It has to come out." - Rebecca. Jason - "I know." He closed his eyes and clenched his teeth. And then he reached in and grabbed the bullet out from within his stomach, his fingers coming out bloody. Claire - "Okay, gross." Jill - "Like we haven't seen more disturbing things than that." "Yeah, well..." - Claire. Rebecca - "Okay, here we go again. Take off your shirt." Jason - "You must really like us taking our shirts off huh?" Rebecca smiled faintly. "If you guys didn't keep getting hurt I wouldn't have to have you take your shirts off." Jason took it off and handed it to Rebecca. He reached up and wiped a tear from her eye. Leon - "Come on, let's check to see if Wesker's around the corner." He nodded toward the hallway. Claire looked at Jason and Rebecca. "Yeah, let's go check that out." Jill and Chris nodded slightly and they followed Leon. When they were alone, Jason - "Hey, trust me. I know what it's like to lose someone." Rebecca - "Yeah, I kinda guessed that. Sorry. I mean, you killed your dad." Jason - "Yeah well...he would've killed you. But anyway...this might sound like the girls' line, but...kiss me." She didn't move, but instead stared intently into his deep blue eyes. Jason - "Okay then, I'll kiss you." He sat forward, opened his mouth and kissed Rebecca. The others started back down the corridor towards them. Leon cleared his throat and Jason sat back against the wall. Leon - "Wesker's not there, but I've got a feeling that he's still close." Chris crossed his arms. "I told you that you shouldn't have gone after him." Jason - "Yeah whatever. Oh...did I mention fuck you? No...I didn't, so fuck you!" Jill - "Okay guys, time to shut up." Claire - "God, I know. Can't you be more mature than that?" Jason - "Who asked you? Who told you to say something?" "We don't need no permission. We'll talk when we want to talk." - Claire. Jason - "Double negative, you just said that you do need permission, but whatever." He leaned back and his elbow moved something. He fell, and the white of the wall that was beside him (when he was sitting up it was behind him) started sliding up, revealing clear glass and a room. "Shit! Jesus." - Jason said as he saw that the room was filled with those giant, hairy spiders. Jason - "I friggin hate spiders, especially ones that have been genetically altered to be that damn huge!" There were a few bloody bodies missing limbs in the room; apparently the spiders were finding food for themselves...or someone's been feeding them. Jason got up and stared at the monstrous creatures. Chris - "Heh, maybe we should throw Jason in there. Those things are probably always looking for some food." Rebecca - "That's enough." Jason turned around and looked into Chris's eyes, while his eyes were still yellow. "Shut the hell up, Christopher." He lunged forward and took Chris down, and held him there by his neck. "That's how they killed my step-mom, jackass." After several seconds he let go and stood back up, Chris doing the same a moment later, and apologized. Jason - "Ya know what? You can be sorry, or not be sorry. It really doesn't matter, and I really don't care. I'm just ready to get out of this hell dimension." Well, Wesker thought, that was fun. I knew it would be, and it's just so damn easy to manipulate them. Of course, I don't think it's that great of a loss for Leon; he seemed not to really care about them too much anyway. Whatever. It was almost too easy. Aww...but then again, nothing is really ever too easy in this cruel world. Oh well, how easy it was doesn't really matter, or maker a difference, all that does matter is that I got the job done. They'll track me down eventually, or I'll just appear, which is more likely. Either way, they'll be dead soon enough. I've worked too hard and had way too much fun to just give it all up now. I'll take over, maybe not the world, that's just too damn predictable; too many of the "bad" guys just wanna rule the world. But of course, I'm not like any other bad guys, I'm special. I actually have the power to do it, but I choose not to. It's just too bad that they won't be around to see me reign, but then again they shouldn't have tried to stop me in the first place. So, they brought dying at my hands to their own fate. They can't escape the inevitable. Course, I should know better than anyone that nothing is really inevitable, sometimes not even death. But once again, as I have done to so many people, I will make their deaths inevitable. They can't escape my grasp, not now, I will make them pay. I hope that they savor their last moments together, (aw no I don't, I don't care) for when I'm through, there won't be anything left of them, not even their souls. Rebecca - "Maybe you should rest for a few minutes." "Nah, I'm fine...almost. I mean remember, I am super-human." - Jason said and then grinned. "I like saying that." Chris - "So you like not being human?" Jason - "Well, it certainly does have its advantages." Chris - "I'm not sure I wanna hear all of them. Let's just get out of here." He looked at Rebecca. "It's not really that happy of a place." They turned, and started down the hall where Wesker had come from...and had disappeared to. Leon - "That bastard's not gonna make it through the...morning, I guess." Jason - "Nope, well, not if we find him or he shows up that is. We all know Wesker, course, I do the most probably. He's sneakier than hell. He probably won't be found unless he wants to be found." Leon - "Yeah, that's probably going to be the case." Jason - "So...now none of us have parents. Well, except for you, Jill. Dick Valentine is still alive." Jill - "True, but he's still just in prison." "That bastard," - Jason mumbled under his breath. Chris - "What?" "Yeah Jason, what is it?" - Jill. He looked at her, then down, then back up at her again. Jason - "Well, I hate to be the bringer of bad news..." Jill - "Just say it." Jason - "Fine, but you're sure as hell not gonna like it. Okay, here it goes. Being a thief wasn't the only bad thing your dad chose to do. Actually, stealing is what supposedly forced him to do the worst thing he could, that anyone can do...join Umbrella. See, they got to him, and blackmailed him. They said that if he were ever to get caught, they would get him out of it, somehow. Course, it's obvious that they didn't keep their end of the deal." Jill looked almost sick. "What was in it for Umbrella?" Jason - "Simple, or at least it seemed that way. His loyalty. If they wanted something that he could get his hands on, they would have him get it. Only he got arrested before they had a chance to make a plan to be able to get him out of that predicament. So, once he was put away, he couldn't get anything for them..." He stopped for a second, trying to decide how to word this, then realizing that it didn't matter how he said it, just that he did say it, and just blurted it out. "...including you." That last part made Jill's blood run cold, her heart seemed to stop and a part of her going numb for a split-second. Then it was flowing again, her heart continuing to beat as she thought that it wasn't exactly the best time to freeze up. "They knew how your dad had raised you, and what he had taught you and felt that you could possibly be a valuable asset to their corporation. They didn't want to hurt you, but they would've if you had tried to fight them or just plain turn 'em down. But now, they just want you dead, along with the rest of you. So...it's not exactly all his fault." Jill took a deep breath, and blew it out. "I'll be having a little talk with him after we take down Umbrella's Headquarters." Jason - "Uh, no." Chris - "What do you mean no?" "We're not gonna take Umbrella's HQs down." Claire - Why the hell not?" Jason - "Because they don't really have anything to do with what we've been doing here, least I don't think so. They don't know all about the shit that's going on. I mean, sure they know that we're doing crap with weapons, but they don't know what we've been using, or what we're trying to make. They're fools, they think we're making weapons for the US military and army, yeah right. After we take this facility down, with proof of what was going down, the other couple of other places that are doing the same things will be brought to justice as well. So there's really no point to try and take the HQs down, but we can go to them." "Ya damn right we're gonna bring them to justice!" - Chris yelled. Jason - "Whoa, chill out." "Oh and like you're relaxed?" - Chris. Jason - "I wasn't, but I am now. I just know that we will have to wait to find him, and I wanna kick his ass. Although, I do like him. He's cool, and evil." Leon - "Heh, and you happen to like evil huh?" Jason - "Yeah, I'm dark. But anyway, aren't you guys actually ready to get out of this place?" Rebecca - "Uh, yeah. I think it's pretty fair to say that we all want to leave. Ya know, now." Without thinking, Jason started, - "Man, I wish I had some...nevermind." The others had confused looks on their faces. "Nevermind! Let's just...go." Chris - "O...k then." They just looked at each other for another minute and then in unison turned and walked down the long corridor, Jason leading. They turned left, into an open space, where there were already two men there, both dressed in all black. Wesker - "Hunk?" Hunk - "Wesker?" Jason - "Hunk?" "Jason?" Claire - "Huh?" Jason - "Um, that's Hunk. He was the only survivor of the Umbrella raid here to get the G-Virus. And, well, he was successful in his findings." Wesker stepped up next to Hunk. (Wesker being on Hunk's left side) They were about 15 feet ahead of Jason and the rest of them. Hunk looked at Wesker, - "I heard you were a traitor, Wesker," then he looked back at the group. Wesker - "Me? Oh I would never!" He slipped a knife out from the back of his shirt, which he had tucked into his black pants, and put the point less than an inch away from Hunk's lower back. "Oh wait, that's right...yes I would!" He jabbed the knife into Hunk's back, heard him groan in pain as Wesker twisted it. He moaned again as when Wesker pulled the blade out, which was now covered in the redness of blood from Hunk's body that had spread onto it. Wesker pushed him slightly and he fell to the floor, rolling over to be looking up at him. The others just stood there, unable to move, to do something. Blood started to seep out from beneath his limp body. Wesker - "I so do love watching people die in their own pool of blood. Wesker jumped up and came down with the blade grasped tightly in his right hand and stabbed Hunk right through his forehead. It killed him almost instantly. Besides him, Jason was the only other person that watched the grotesque killing. More blood and brain fluids leaked out from the dead man's head; the knife had split his head open. Jill - "How can you bare to watch that shit?" Wesker - "It's really quite easy actually." "I wasn't talking to you, Wesker. We all know you can watch anything, not to mention do anything without any feelings about it. Well, maybe except pleasure." Wesker just grinned. Jason - "...same goes for me I guess, and I'd also have to go with Wesker's answer." "Come here, J.T." - Wesker said, pulling him out and next to him. They stared at each other, then both turned to face the unsuspecting group. Wesker - "Jason did a great job huh? Luring you here and all. He was even kind enough to help me capture Sherry, and get Steve back." Rebecca - "No. No friggin way!" Jason - "Oh way, baby." He closed his eyes and when they appeared again they were a blazing red. Wesker was still smiling. Then Jason grinned, not his usual, sweet smile, but an evil grin...like Wesker's. Chris - "Damnit!" Jason - "I told you I liked Wesker, and evil. But ya know, guess you really didn't take me seriously. I love surprises, but I love surprising and tricking people even more. It's just so damn fun. Don't you wanna be a part of it all?" Leon - "Never." Jason - "Wrong answer." Jason grabbed Leon and punched him in his arm, the arm with the wound and the warmth of blood sprayed out a little, then Jason threw him down. Leon grabbed his side, and climbed to his feet. Rebecca - "God, I can't believe this." Jason - "Well, believe it honey. I'm totally free. Now, would anyone else like to say that they wouldn't choose this side?" They all would've like to state that, but they kept their mouths shut, and chose not to. Jason - "Didn't think so." There was another moment of silence, and then Chris finally spoke up. Chris - "I would." "Would what?" - Wesker. Chris - "Would like to say that I would never join your side." Wesker - "Oh, really?" Jason - "Not even if it would save Claire's life?" "Don't bring her into this." - Chris. Jason - "Uh, hello? And just where the hell have you been? She's already in this, in as deep as any of you can get. Actually she's in deeper than everyone except you. But, wouldn't you do anything for her?" Chris - "Yes. I'd do anything for Claire. If it came down to you killing me or her, I'd make you kill me." Claire looked over at him. "No." "What do you mean no?" - Chris. Claire - "I mean no. You think I wanna see them kill you, or torture you?" Chris - "Oh and you think I wanna see them do that shit to you?" Wesker - "Children, children. This is just one of those brother sister fights, although I don't think many have them over this kind of stuff...oh well. There's no point in fighting anyway. It doesn't really matter, so you can just stop now. Why? Because we're going to torture both of you, and of course kill you, all of you. The only decision we have to make is who first. But that'll probably be Claire considering I just love seeing Chris suffer. And well, to be honest, I hate you more." Jason - "Ya know what? So do I." "Yeah well, I know Chris better than you. I don't see why anyone would ever choose Chris over Claire to live. But of course, we are guys, right?" - Wesker. Jason - "Yeah. Of course, it's easy to see what Leon sees in her." Leon - "Uh, um, who says I like her?" "Oh shut up, Leon. It's obvious." - Claire. Jason - "Yeah Leon. Remember? We all saw you kissing. And plus, I have like a...a sixth sense. It's a weird one but hey, who really cares. I can usually tell if someone likes someone else. And so I definitely know that Chris so likes..." He cleared his throat. "...Jill." Chris's eyes went a little wide. Jill nodded absently, - "Figured that." Chris - "Oh you did not." Jill - "Uh, yes. Yes I did. Now can we move on?" Jason - "Yeah, alrighty. By the way, Claire likes you too, Leon, and Jill likes Chris. Oh right, Rebecca likes me, but I can't blame her. So, now what?" Wesker glanced between Jason and the group a few times, his gaze settling on them. "Which one do you wanna kill first? Actually, put them in order, first to last. And obviously Chris has to be last, as much as that sucks." "Hmm. Well, first...Jill. Then Leon, then Claire. I think I wanna keep Rebecca alive for a while though. I can think of some ways to have fun with her." - Jason said, then winked at her. Rebecca - "Oh joy, can't wait for that." Jason - "See, you're sarcastic right now, but trust me, you won't be when the time comes." Jill rolled her eyes. "Aw, give it up already." "No, see, that's what Rebecca will be doing." - Jason said a little loud, smiling. Leon took a shot at him with his gun, but he dodged it. Jason kicked the gun out of Leon's hand. It flew up and Jason caught it when it came back down. Wesker - "Shoulda taken those away in the first place." He took out a pair of sub-machine guns, and handed the knife to Jason. "Give 'em all up, now. And if you don't, well, you know I won't mind shooting you." The three girls looked at each other and nodded slightly. They all dropped their guns and slid them towards Wesker and Jason. Jason - "So, where are all of the scientists?" Wesker - "Mostly dead. You ready?" Jason nodded. Wesker - "Okay, good. Here." He handed two tear gas grenades to Jason, and went to put the guns away in the room in the open space. When he came back Jason pushed Leon and Claire aside to get through them and headed back down the hallway where they had come from. He came back with a single grenade in his right hand, - "That one's set." And walked through the again and kept going. He set the other one down at the end of that hall and stayed. "Done." - Jason. "Okay," - Wesker replied and set the only one he had down at his feet, and locked the door, which was room 814. He hurried behind the group so that they couldn't run when the tear gas went off. "Oh and what? The tear gas won't affect you two?" - Chris. Wesker - "It'll affect us, just not as much. And we can hide it anyway." Only moments later, it started to take its toll on them. Chris was the only one not on his hands and knees, but it was only a matter of seconds. Wesker - "No use in fighting it." He directed his statement toward Chris, although he meant for everyone to listen. Jason could hear everyone coughing, everyone except Wesker, he imagined, so he started walking back towards them. Another advantage of being super human was improved vision; he could see close to perfectly through the fog the gas was letting off. All of them were on the ground now, covering their mouths to try to keep from fainting, but that already hadn't worked for Rebecca. She was lying on the floor unconscious, which is what they'd all be doing shortly. They were all on the floor by the time Jason reached them. Claire gave up and put her head down; she had obviously figured out that there was no real point in trying to stay awake. The last one down was Chris, who turned over and was sprawled on his back. "You'll pay for this," - Chris stated, and closed his eyes. Wesker - "I'm sure I will, heh. Well, time to do what we gotta do. Come on." Jason listened, and they went to work. Claire awoke groggy, as she suspected was because of what had happened. Jason and Wesker weren't there, she could see that, although her sight was blurry. That would wear off soon enough. They must be in that room, she thought to herself. The one that Wesker had put the guns away in, their guns. And not just Wesker now, but Jason also. I wonder if they're awake yet. When she looked up she realized that she was strapped to the wall, again. Only this time, the others were strapped up along with her. Claire was in the middle, Leon to her left and Chris on his other side. Jill was next to her on the right, and on the far right end (from Claire's perspective) was Rebecca; they were all beginning to come to. Chris looked to his right and caught Claire's gaze. "I'm not going to let them hurt you." Rebecca suddenly broke in, looking up and over at them. "If you haven't quite noticed yet, Chris, we're kinda hanging from a wall. You can't do anything. None of us can." Leon - "Yeah, well, he's your boyfriend." Rebecca shook her head slightly, and slowly. "Not exactly." At that same moment, the door to the room to their left opened and out walked Jason, smiling, followed by Wesker. "Oh but I sure as hell would really love to be." - he said, walking down until he stood a few feet away in front of Rebecca. Jill - "This is total bullshit." Wesker was standing a few feet in front of Claire, and looked at Jill to respond. "Not really." Jason was still facing Rebecca, but turned his head to face Wesker. "So, where are the scientists who aren't dead?" "Oh you know. Most of them are forbidden to come down here, and they're smart enough to know that if they don't go by Umbrella's rules and orders, they'll be killed soon anyway. It is only for VIPs. And now I would like to know something that I think you'll know the answer to. Where are those night-demon things hiding out? I haven't seen any yet and I don't want to be surprised by one of them." - Wesker replied, turning his full attention to Jason for the time being. Jason - "Well, they aren't up here. Besides the fact that it's dawn, and the sun will be rising, they like dark places. Like the sewers or tunnels, although when we were down there we only ran into one of them. Oh and they also like water, for whatever reason that is. I don't even really like water, drinking it anyway." Something flashed in Jason's mind suddenly, an idea. He felt it was about time anyway. So he decided to bring it up. He walked over to Wesker, pulling him backwards by his arm toward the far wall so that the others couldn't hear them talking. He started speaking low and fast. Wesker thought about it, then nodded slightly, signifying that he agreed to it. They raised their voices so that the others could now hear what they were saying. Jason - "Trust me." Wesker - "Oh, I do, I do trust you. It's funny, weird too, in a way. I've never really trusted too many people in my life before. So you're a lucky bastard, to have me trusting you and you working with me. And I know that you are telling the truth." They walked back to the original positions, Jason reaching up and releasing Rebecca from the wall. He grabbed her arm and Claire saw him whisper in her ear, then talked louder. Jason - "So, don't you want to tell the truth now? Believe me, it's fun!" They both smiled, Rebecca turning toward the people still hanging from the wall. And from the look she shot Claire, she knew exactly what was happening. Shit, Claire said silently in her mind, I can't believe it. Rebecca - "Yep, guess it's as good a time as any, appropriate I suppose." Chris - "Jesus! Not you, too! But why? You've been fighting along side us this whole damn time!" Jason - "Nope, me and her met each other a while ago. And then the two of us met up with Wesker..." "I wanna hear it from Rebecca." - Jill said coolly. Rebecca - " Simply put, like Jason said...it is quite fun." Jason moved Rebecca to his other side (his right), and continued to move her, and himself a little bit, toward the door to their right. He told her to go stand by the door, and gave her some more instructions before she went over there. She obeyed, and then Wesker came and stood next to Jason, on his left side. They both were looking up at Jill, Claire, Leon and Chris. Jason - "I'm a good actor, huh?" He directed his question to Wesker. "The best," - Wesker. Jason looked at him, but didn't turn his body toward him. "Better than you'll ever know." And then Jason elbowed him right in the nose with his left arm. They turned to face each other, staring into each others' mutant colored eyes, Wesker with his orange-yellow and Jason with his red, and blood began to run down Wesker's nose. Wesker - "Damn, you sure you wanna be like that?" He licked some of the blood that had dripped onto his lips and smiled. Jason - "Certain. I don't ever want to be like you. Well, maybe a little. You are cool, but I'm just not sticking with ya. Sorry. Actually, heh, no I'm not." Wesker - "Well that's a huge mistake on your part. See, you might be stronger than any human, certainly stronger than that weak-ass bastard Chris, but you're not as strong as me. Even with you're eyes changed. By the way, isn't is strange how you're stronger with your eyes red?" Jason - "Uh huh. Stop stalling." "Me? Stalling? Yeah right. I just have a sense of humor, and I know you do. But let it be I guess, let's get down to business." Without turning away from Wesker, Jason addressed Rebecca. "Wait for it, Rebecca." Then they fought. Jason jumped, bringing his feet a few inches from the floor, ran, and speared Wesker and started pounding on his face. Wesker used both of his feet to push Jason off of him and send him flying back several feet. Then Wesker got up immediately and ran towards Jason, but he did a flip and landed on the other side of Wesker. Then before he turned around Jason kicked Wesker in the gut and heard him make a oof sound. Jason turned around quickly and saw Wesker charging at him, so he put his head down and lifted Wesker up and flipped him onto his back, hitting his head on the marble floor. Jason stood over him, looking down, then Wesker tripped him and he came down and hit his chin on the ground, causing his mouth to draw blood. He boosted himself up quickly regardless, and dropkicked Wesker, both of his feet landing against his chest, making him stumble backwards. Wesker - "Not bad." They both charged at each other, and Wesker clothes-lined Jason so hard that it flipped him and he landed on his stomach. Wesker pulled back his right leg and kicked Jason in the stomach a few times, causing his wound to open up and blood to leak out, and then backed up to admire his work done so far. Rebecca - "Jason!" "Don't come over here!" - Jason. Rebecca - "Here." He turned and saw that she was holding something. He got up and realized what it was. "A tennis racket? Where'd that come from? And you couldn't find something else, like a metal bat?" Rebecca looked impatient. "Ya want it or not?" He nodded enthusiastically. She threw it at him...and Wesker caught it. Rebecca - "Oops." Jason - "Shit." Wesker turned around and busted the string part of the racket on Jason's head, making him feel a little dazed. Wesker picked him up, held him for a second by his throat, and threw him down as hard as he could. He landed so hard that the floor beneath them cracked, and caved in, sending Jason falling into darkness. The ground kept cracking, and went a little farther out than where Wesker stood, causing him to fall too. Rebecca quickly un-strapped the group, and they ran over to the hole. "Damnit, we can't see anything. It's pitch black." - Rebecca. All they could do was listen, hearing the sounds as one or the other hit the solid ground, and as they were being hit. Since they couldn't know what was going on, or what was going to happen, they each backed away from the opening. Sure enough, Jason jumped up and out of the hole, on the side of it that they were on, covered in even more red, followed by Wesker who was on the other side. He had his own knife sticking into his gut, blood staining the black fabric of his shirt and dripping down onto his pants. They were both breathing a little fast, and although Wesker had just been stabbed, he grinned anyway. Wesker - "Get ready for the final show-down kids, it'll be fun. And put a shirt on, both of you!" He took off back the way they had come in the first place, and impossibly quickly at that. Jason nodded slowly, turning to the others. "Yeah, we'll be ready." - he said quietly. Claire - "Good going. I knew you guys were just faking it by the way Rebecca looked at me." Rebecca - "Well hey, I wanted at least one person to know what was really going on." Chris stepped up to Jason, looking down at him slightly. "So, why'd ya do it in the first place?" Jason smiled. "To get some important information mostly. But also to get close to him, find out what he's like, and make him trust me. And that obviously worked out pretty well. Like...since Wesker thought I was with him, he took me to HCF. I got plenty on them. And I know that they really are like Umbrella, but couldn't really get along too well without Wesker. Of course, they're not as evil, but I don't think anyone is ever gonna be as evil and insane as Umbrella is." Chris - "Okay, okay. So...what was the most important thing you learned?" Jason grinned wider, and he looked to his right at the door. They all turned their heads and look at the room, and saw the number. He simply said - "Room 814." They looked back at him, and couldn't help smiling. Jason - "I kinda figure that's the most important, don't you?" "Ok, fine, you did something constructive after all." - Chris. Jason - "Aw, you just hate admitting that huh? Heh. Bet Barry would've probably minded too, huh?" Chris looked back down at Jason, feeling another huge rush of hatred toward Umbrella and Wesker for everything. And towards Jason's dad. Chris - "Yeah well, he's dead now. And it was your dad's fault! He shot him!" Jason - "Listen, little Chris. It wasn't my fault." "Wait a second, it was your fault. You're the one that moved out of the freakin' way!" Jason - "Whoa there, hold up just a minute! I moved because I saw that he was going to shoot Rebecca. If I wouldn't have, she would be the dead one right now. So, it was either him or her, and it had to be him." Chris just stared at him in silence, not knowing what else to say or how to come back with something intelligent. Rebecca - "So why did you say you didn't know where the lab was?" Jason looked at her. "Uh...I uh, don't know. Maybe because I didn't think that Wesker thing would come up, or that I'm not a VIP? Either way, doesn't matter now." Jill - "You're a strange one, Jason." "Thanks, I wouldn't have it any other way." Claire - "Yeah, um, well then, let's finish this." Leon - "I believe that would be the plan." Chris turned away from Jason and toward them. "Yeah, you're right. Let's get this done." Jason - "Good choice. Now, I'll go in first, since I got the key." He motioned for them to follow him, and he walked over to the door and unlocked it with a golden key with the numbers "814" etched into it. He pushed it open, and stood against the door, letting them go in before him. When they had walked in, Jason followed and shut the door behind him. The room was pretty big, with several big consoles and computers, and even a few tubes; one still held something, a man. He was floating in one of the tubes, and the weird thing was, he was still just a regular human. Not mutated. A computer was next to that particular glass tube, and they headed over to it. It was already on, and there were folders on the computer's desktop. They were all reports, only four in all. The wallpaper was an Umbrella logo; figured. And in the middle of the desktop was a text file entitled "Umbrella : The Final Report. They all looked at each other, then all nodded. Rebecca sat down and clicked the mouse on that file, and opened it. They all read it to themselves, except Jason, who had already seen and read it a little bit before. He just stood a few feet back from everyone, watching them read with interest. His dad had typed it, about three weeks ago to the day. Umbrella : The Final Report. May 26, 1999 It's worked, and it's still working. No one knows the real deal, not even most of the people at the Umbrella Headquarters. I guess they're just not as smart as they think. After everything that had happened, they still don't get it, or know what's what. Only a few really important people know about all of the experiments we've done, or are doing. They don't even know that we made these viruses on purpose, just not the zombies. Well, except for those few bastards from the ex-S.T.A.R.S., including their friends and Redfield's sister. I, that is we, all hope that they all burn in hell and are tortured for trying to stop us. They don't have any right. The remaining survivors as of today: Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton, Leon S. Kennedy, and Carlos Oliviera. Of course, there is still Albert Wesker. That bastard betrayed us, the whole Umbrella corporation. He's still a threat to us, but we feel we can over come and control that little problem, and his new company. What was it again? Oh right, HCF, whatever the hell that supposed to stand for. A "rival" company. Ha, like any company could ever beat us out. But other than them, which they won't be a problem soon enough, no one knows. That just shows what kind of dumbasses they've got running Umbrella Inc. I mean, they know that we're doing bio-weapons shit, but they ain't got a clue about the virus series and shit that we're making turn into monsters. Anyway, on to the Xeno T-virus. It's coming along very nicely, in fact, better than I thought it would. Although, I didn't really like, actually, I hated that they tested the early stages of the freakin' virus my son, Jason. If they would've hurt or even killed them, I don't know what I would've done. I probably would have gone all out though. And I know that it's been really rough on Jason, me too. After all, his mom, was killed in the fire of Raccoon City, after what had happened with this mansion, or rather what didn't happen with this mansion. And, my late wife and his step-mom (Diana) was killed when she refused to come live at the mansion with us when I was recruited and then promoted as a scientist at Umbrella. I don't know, and I'm still not sure, what happened to Sherry, though I do know that Jason really cares about her. But what was worse, for Jason at least, was that Umbrella killed his girlfriend, actually, his first love. Jason and I still don't have any idea as to why they murdered her, and when he asked, the only answer they gave him was that she just couldn't be trusted, and that they had a concern that she could learn too much. Jason didn't take that too well, and I completely understand. He spends most of his time up in a bedroom on the mansion's little third floor, alone. I've told him to be more careful, but for whatever reason, he isn't scared of the creations. He's still a little broken-hearted over it, over all of this, but I feel he's getting better. And I really like and think he's turning out to be a great guy, in spite of everything he's been through. Better than me anyway. I wish I could spend more time with him, but research has been so busy, I just can't seem to find the time anymore. Well, in a closing note I guess I'll say that this Xeno T-virus will be done soon, and it will be the best thing that has ever happened to Umbrella. And one last thing, no one will be able to stop us now, and not ever. So this will be the final report until it is done. This has kinda been like a journal over a report, but that's what I needed to say. - John Thompson. _______________________________________________________________ Chris turned around after finishing the report, while the others read the last few lines. "Man, you're dad was kind of a..." Jason - "Don't say it. Actually...say whatever the hell want about him." The others finished, but didn't turned fully around; they turned to their right slightly instead, looking at the floating human inside of the clear liquid that filled the tube practically to the top. Jill - "Ok, so what is that? It sure as hell isn't any Tyrant." Jason - "Ya might try looking at that label. You know, the one posted on the tube. I've already seen it. I know what it says." At his words, they immediately looked back and read the yellowish label taped to the glass. It read: "Do not drain the water. There is no use for him yet. He will be used as a specimen soon." Chris - "He looks kind of familiar. Who is he, do you know?" The question was obviously directed toward Jason. "Well, there's a little report about it on the computer, not very informative though. But it does say it's...Lord Ozwel Spencer." Chris - "What?" "But..." Jill - "He was supposed to be dead...you mean he's been here the whole time? This is just too much." Jason - "Guess so..." Rebecca - "The virus, we need to find it, now." "Shouldn't be too hard to find." - Claire. Jason - "Ahem, it's Umbrella." "Wait, didn't Wesker show you where it was?" - Rebecca. Jason shook his head. "He didn't bring it up, actually." Leon - "Okay, so let's find it and destroy it. Then this'll be over." Chris - "Almost. It will almost be over. We'll still have one more step to making this whole mess right...we have to kill Wesker. That's the bottom line." Jason - "Wait. There's also a huge bomb hooked up that can destroy this place. It will blow the mansion up. Actually, the whole city will probably explode...again. Only this time, there will be nothing left. And we'll leave this city behind, for good." Leon - "Yeah, and it's about time that happened. So let's stop talking and destroy the sample." They all agreed on that and only had to look around for less than a minute before Jason raised the glass case with the greenish liquid in it. "Here it is. The only sample of the Xeno T-virus in existence. And in only a moment, this won't even exist. They probably would have finished later on today, or close to it anyway. And this stuff...is in me. At least some of it. It's a part of me now, and that's what I'll never escape. Not until I die. I'll carry it with me for the rest of my life." "Don't think about it, Jason. Plus, you said you like it." - Rebecca. Jason - "Heh, yeah, I guess that's true. It does come in handy at times. So, ya really think we should break it?" "What else would we do with it?" - Chris. Jason - "I don't really know. Maybe keep it. Ya know, like a souvenir or something." "You really wanna remember this?" - Jill. "Oh come on, like we're ever gonna forget any of this anyway. But just to make everyone happy and everything better, I'll get rid of it. You guys might want to stand back, I'm pretty sure if it splashes on any open wounds you'll be infected with it." - Jason. Claire - "What about you? I mean, you're not infected with this much of it." Jason - "Oh, don't worry about that. I mean, I can throw it to the farthest wall easily. Well, any of us could do that, but let me protect you guys now. So, get behind me, and stand against the east wall." They all did so, not wanting to argue or actually get the virus on them. Jason pulled his arm back, and brought it forward, releasing the sample tube and letting it fly towards the west wall. The glass shattered when it hit the concrete, the fluid splattering and spraying across the wall and floor. Shards of the glass rained down for a moment, then settled down onto the green ground. Leon - "Well, that's parts over. And now Wesker can't get it, either." Chris - "Hey, that's right. I never even thought about that. Well that makes it even better." Jason - "Now, for the bomb. It'll probably be hooked up to one of the consoles. If one of you finds it before me, let me know. I'll set it up." Jason knelt down next to the closest console to him and looked under. Surprisingly, or not so much, it was indeed there. I guess it makes sense, Jason thought, or it makes sense that it doesn't make sense. I don't know why I'm ever surprised by the things Umbrella does, or maybe it's just that I think I should be surprised, but I'm really not... "Found it." Jason called to the rest of them, who came over to him immediately. "Good, now we can destroy this damn place." Jason looked up at him, "Really? No kidding? Wow..." Chris smacked him on the back of his head. Jason - "Don't wanna be doing that, Christopher." After he examined the bomb a little closer, "By the way, it's already hooked up. When I push the switch, it'll start counting down from ten minutes." "Oh goodie, can't wait." Jason stood up, almost hitting his head on the console. There was Wesker standing in the doorway, smoking a cigarette. Wesker - "Play times over folks, it's time for your final stand...and fall. So, let's finish this." He flicked the cigarette to the floor and as always, he took off, and this time back towards the mansion's first floor. Chris - "Flip the switch, now." "What guns do we have?" Leon - "One Beretta and the magnum I have." Jason - "Good enough." He knelt down, flipped the switch, and the overly predictable computer voice came on. "Warning, the self-destruct system has been activated. All personnel must evacuate wait immediately. You have ten minutes to reach minimum save distance. After fifteen minutes mansion will be completely decimated. Repeat. The self-destruct system has been activated..." Leon - "You gotta get sick of those things. Too predictable." Claire - "Well what did you expect? Fireworks or something? That would never happen with Umbrella. And you were wrong, we have fifteen minutes." Jason - "Stop talking now." "Don't tell us to..." - Jill. Jason - "Shut up. We really don't need you being a bitch right now. You can go back to that a little later on, if you live." Jill didn't say anything else, just realizing more than ever that she wanted to get out of here. Chris - "Head out, running." They bolted out the door and Jason grabbed the closest person to him, that being Claire. For the next few minutes, they all just ran. The recorded computer voice informed them of how long they had left to get out every 30 seconds. Of course Jason was in the lead, and Claire considering he was carrying her. The rest of them were pretty close to each other, Chris not too far ahead of them. Rebecca was behind him, Leon and Jill right behind her. Jason made sure he stayed in view so that the others knew where to go. A couple minutes later, they were on the first floor of the mansion, after all of the twists and turns and hallways of the underground. Jason let Claire go and they waited for the others to catch up. They slowed down, and took deep breaths. Chris - "So where the hell is he?" Jason lifted his head, and sniffed the air. He took a few seconds, determining where Wesker went, then said, "He went through the dining room." They all looked at him, surprised. Jill - "You can smell him?" Jason - "All of my senses are heightened. I can tell where he's been. It helps that he's bleeding, I can smell blood pretty easily." Chris - "So, through the dining room it is then." They opened the door that led into the dining room and entered it, closing the door behind them. Leon - "So he's not in here, he just passed through, right?" Jason - "Yeah." "You have six minutes, 30 seconds to reach minimum safe distance. All personnel evacuate immediately. Eleven minutes, 30 seconds until mansion is completely decimated." "Yeah, yeah, yeah." - Rebecca. They hurried through the room, and stepped out into the main room of the mansion. Jason stopped, and sniffed the air again. "The scent stops here." He looked to his right. "It goes over there." They walked over to the wall and scanned it. Claire - "Must be hidden." Jason raised his foot, and kicked the wall, and sure enough a door swung inward. Claire went in first, cautiously. Leon followed her, being the protective type he was with her. Jill and Rebecca went in after them, leaving Chris and Jason to head in last. They went in at the same time. Right as they entered, they heard the door close behind them. The others turned around and gasped. Wesker jabbed a knife into Jason's wound, and twisted it, blood pouring out. Jason - "SHIT!" He fell to the floor, breathing, but not by much. Some redness poured from his mouth as well. Chris turned around slightly, only to catch Wesker's knife stabbing him in his side, but thankfully it didn't go too deep; it still hurt like hell. He stumbled away, Leon catching him and helping him stand up. Wesker - "Let the showdown begin." "Jason!" - Rebecca yelled, Leon holding her back from rushing to Jason's side. Chris was holding his side, warm blood seeping through his fingers. "Wesker's too dangerous, you can't get too close to him." - Chris. Wesker - "Damn right I'm dangerous." He was wearing his evil grin, as usual. The hidden room was pretty big. And again, there were consoles. Chris - "Stay back!" A console was in the middle of the room, and there were a row of computers on the same side as the entrance. They were now backing up behind the middle console, Chris keeping them walking, and passed Jason's body with a single glance down at him. "Get back as far as possible behind him." - Chris said, while Jason was still on the floor. Wesker kept coming. Wesker - "Aw, it's ok. I've had a change of heart. I'm perfectly fine with killing you first." He kept walking toward them, slowly though. Leon stepped out in front of Chris and Wesker brought his left arm back, and pounded Leon, sending him flying fully over the middle console. He flew against the wall and slid down the computers and on to the floor, unconscious. Claire - "Leon!" Suddenly she didn't care so much about anything else. Claire ran over to kneel by Leon's side. Wesker took another step forward and swatted Chris to the left, clearing the path to Jill. He picked her up in his right hand by her neck and looked into her eyes. "This will be fun! Take 'em out one by one..." He threw her backwards, against the other console that lined the far left wall. Wesker smiled. "Hello there, Rebecca." As Wesker was stepping toward her, something hit him from behind. It was Jason. He was breathing hard. "Stay the hell away from her." Wesker - "Didn't think you'd be dead quite yet." Jason - "Chris...use the freaking gun." Chris - "Right." Wesker pushed Jason and he stumbled backwards, falling against the wall. Rebecca ran by Wesker and tried to treat Jason. Jason - "Don't bother. Just go, and don't die." She just sat there for another minute, watching him...she figured he would die soon, but she didn't want to actually see it happen. She turned back, and went to check on Leon; she couldn't help Chris. He was on his own, except if Jill was okay. Chris barely held on to the gun when Wesker punched him, but he did, which was the important thing. He walked as fast as he could towards the back of the room, trying to get some distance in between him and Wesker. There were six bullets left, and Chris hoped that that would be enough. He was super-human, sure, but was he strong enough that a gun wouldn't stun him? Jill was to his left, and she was conscious, though she wouldn't be able to do anything; he could tell that blow really affected her. He turned his attention to Wesker, watching him approach slowly. He could have killed all of them by now, but that wasn't his style. He liked to toy with people. Chris raised the gun, and let off the first shot. Straight in the chest...only it had made Wesker back up just one step. Wesker - "Nice shot. But you don't have what it takes to kill me." The bullet hadn't even gone into his body; it had practically flattened on impact. He pulled the trigger again, and the bullet hit his stomach, with the same result as before. Jill - "Go for his head!" Chris hadn't even thought of that, and that was the best plan they had. He aimed at Wesker's forehead, and squeezed the trigger, letting a bullet fly. Right before it hit, Wesker moved his head out of the way. He didn't know why, but just then, Chris shot off the last three bullets. And sadly, missed each; Wesker was too fast. "Good, but not good enough." - Wesker. Claire had to help out somehow, yet she didn't have a clue as to how that would happen. She stayed low, not wanting Wesker to spot her, and hid behind the middle console, so that she was close to Chris; he was backed up against the farthest one. He whispered to her when he saw her, - "Stay out of this." Her reply was simple. "No way. This is my fight too." Wesker was closing in, and they didn't have any more shots left. Claire looked desperately to find anything that could be useful...and her eyes stopped when she saw a lever next to Chris. "Chris! Pull that lever!" He was confused at first, but then looked down and to his right. That's what Claire meant. He reached out and pulled it, though it was a slight struggle. Nothing happened right away, but then something did. Part of the floor rose up, a giant spring under it, and Wesker happened to be on that section of the floor at that time. It launched him backwards and into the air. What nobody had noticed was that a long metal spike had come out from the wall farthest from Chris, and Wesker went right through it. Blood sprayed from his stomach, the spike creating a hole in Wesker's body. It was the first time any of them had actually heard him scream. Surprisingly, he was still breathing, but not for long. Nothing could hold out and on to life after having that happen to them. "You have two minutes 30 seconds to reach minimum safe distance. All personnel evacuate immediately." That meant seven minutes until the place blew up. With everything that was happening, no one had even remembered about the time limit they had, hadn't even heard it. Chris helped Jill up, and Leon could walk...but Jason was still just lying there on his back, eyes closed. Chris spoke gently to Rebecca - "There's nothing we could have done, or can do. We have to get out of here." Rebecca nodded slightly; she knew it was true. They had to leave this place forever, let it burn to the ground. And suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Wesker slip off of the now blood-covered spike. Her mouth dropped open, and since the others noticed, they turned to look where she was looking. They were so shocked that he stumbled right past them, through the door. Leon - "How the hell is he still alive? That's impossible..." Claire - "Guess not." They hurried through the door, out into the main room of the mansion. Wesker was propped up against the bottom step of the staircase, holding his arm across his gut. "Chris, here's the magnum, I saved one shot. Make it count man." - Leon. Chris nodded, - "I will." He took the gun, and pointed it at Wesker's head. Wesker - "Fine, kill me, I'm already dead. This doesn't mean it's over. You might..." He was so hurt that he had to take breaths in between sentences. "...destroy Umbrella, but there's still HCF." Claire - "Nope. You said yourself in your little report thing that HCF was nothing without you. And that's very easy to believe." Wesker - "Whatever. Ya wanna be like that, fine. But you all just need to remember one, simple, thing. Remember this, don't ever forget it. Evil...never...dies!" Chris - "Thanks for your wisdom. And yeah, we'll remember that. But also, we'll remember who won this fight. And that you lost...Wesker." Those were the last words Chris would say to Wesker, because then he pulled the trigger. The bullet blew somewhat big hole his head. Rebecca - "Well...that's that." Chris threw down the magnum and walked to the door, opening both of them all the way. He stood in the doorway looking at them. "We're done here." He turned and went to the helicopter. Leon was the first in, and was obviously gonna be flying, so he was in the pilot's seat. Claire climbed in next to him. Then Rebecca was in, sliding all the way down to the right side, looking out the window. It was sunrise, and it was beautiful. It was a beautiful thing after all of this shit. Jill sat next to her, and Chris by Jill. There was enough room for one other person...but he wasn't there. They heard another warning from the computer system, saying that they had one minute to reach a safe distance from the soon-to-come explosion. Leon started the 'copter's engine. Leon - "It takes a minute to go, but we'll be okay. We actually have more time." They didn't talk while they waited, just thought about everything that had happened. "...hey! Can't take off, without me, right?" Rebecca looked up, along with everyone else in there. It was Jason. Leon - "Hurry!" He was holding his stomach, and went as fast as he could to reach the helicopter. He had a pile of something with him. Chris opened up the door, and helped Jason climb in. He automatically went to sit next to Rebecca...and Leon lifted the 'copter off of the ground as the voice was saying they had two minutes to get away; plenty of time. They were in the sky after a few seconds, above the rest of the ruined city of Raccoon. Rebecca - "What took ya so long?" Jason - "Had to get some clothes." He smiled and put them down between Jill and him. Chris - "Hey Jill, you never answered my question earlier." Jill - "What question?" Chris - "If you could go back and change all of this, so that you never were a part of it, or make it so that none of this ever happened, would you?" Rebecca and Jason looked at each other, and said simultaneously, - "Nope." And Claire and Leon looked at each other the same way, and said the same thing, - "Never." Jason - "So Jill, Chris, would you?" Chris - "Doubt it." Jill - "No, I guess I really wouldn't." Claire - "Right. Because if none of this happened, we wouldn't know each other. At least not as well. This was a truly amazing experience for us. It had a lot of tragedy, but also some good came out of it." "Yep, some really good things." - Chris said, and kissed Jill. Rebecca smiled. "It's about damn time." They laughed as Leon flew them off into the morning, leaving Raccoon behind, as the mansion's bomb finally went off. The mansion exploded, and so did the rest of Raccoon City with it. This time, they looked to see it. And they liked what they saw. Huge flames, devouring the gloomy city. They flew away, never to return to a world like this again...hopefully.
