Main Characters - Rebecca Chambers, David Trapp, Steve Lopez, John Andrews, and Karen Driver.
Caliban Cove takes place thirteen days after the first book/game and what happened at the Spencer mansion. It starts out with Rebecca riding to meet Barry, Jill, and Chrid and Barry's house. Once she arrives, she meets an old friend of Barry's who was also with the S.T.A.R.S., David Trapp, who is only in the books.
Jill and Chris get there soon after and they talk about the situation. David eventually gets to the point, which is that he is taking in three of his team members to Caliban Cover, Maine, to investicate a facility, and wants Rebecca to come along. She agrees soon after, though the others want to go with her.
The house
is then attacked by Umbrella assassins, but they get away unharmed...except for Barry running into a tree and getting shot. But don't worry about good ol' Barry, he's fine. They go to Brad's abandoned apartment, and discussed a few more things. Not too long after they get there, Rebecca and David leave to catch a plane.
David introduces Rebecca to his team the next day: Steve Lopez, Karen Driver, and John Andrews. They wait until night, and then get into the Cove compound by boat after John is almost eaten by a giant sea monster. Once they get there, they learn about the Trisquads, which are like zombies only take orders and can use guns.
Dr. Nicholas Griffith is the man responsible for everything at the Cove (which Rebecca expected in the first plcae), and he minuplated the T-Virus, making it infect the host within hours instead of days. They split up, and when they're all back in the same room they discover Karen got infected by touching some dried blood
and then touching her eye.
They then search out to find the main lab, and to find an antidote (throughout the whole book they come across several puzzles). In a dark tunnel, a man, Alan Kinneson appears and they agree to let Steve follow him, along with Karen, who is close to losing it. When Steve gets a little further,
Kinneson pulls a gun on him, and takes him to the lab where Griffith is.
Rebecca, John, and David keep going the way they were going, but when they come across several huge...lizard things (as Rebecca describes), they retreat and go the way Steve went. When they get there, Karen has already started eating Dr. Thurman, and
Steve has turned into one of the Trisquads as well.
John tries to shoot the other zombie soldier (the one behind them), and so Steve shoots John. Rebecca and David are forced into an airlock(Karen's dead body is in there as well, and Griffith orders Steve to shoot himself in the head, which he does. Rebecca pounds on the glass
(Steve and her had an attraction to each other), but it won't break.
Griffith is flooding the airlock, and when the water is about to Rebecca's hips, she remembered something. She pulled out a live grenade from one of Karen's pockets; she had carried it for luck. David used it, and after being completely underwater for several
seconds, it exploded, and the metal door and window were broken, letting them free. They still almost drowned, but lived. Barry had called some people to go to Caliban Cove, and they got there just as Rebecca and David came out of the lighthouse. The people put them on the boat, and discovered another person alive, John.
