I'd like to start off this review by saying this is my favorite book of the series, though Resident Evil 2 (the game) isn't my favorite game. It probably has something to do with Claire Redfield being my fave character in the series. Anyway, City of the Dead is the longest of the books, at 338 pages. It's fun and interesting to see Claire and Leon Scott Kennedy's first impressions of what's happening in Raccoon City. This book follows the storyline pretty well, except for just a few things.
It's always nice to see every characters perspective, which this along with the other books, has this feature. The characters this book focuses on are: Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, Sherry Birkin, Annette Birkin, and Chief Brian Irons. It also has some cool quotes, such as "Real bravery isn't an absence of fera, it's accepting the fear and doing what's necessary anyway." Actually, there are some good quotes throughout the book series.
And obviously this book has cool characters; Leon is cool, and as I've said, Claire's my fave character out of the entire series, Resident Evil series, game and book wise. There's plenty of little actions scenes (and some big ones) for everyone that likes that, along with great descriptions. Back to the characters for a second. One person I don't really like (not because of the book, don't like her anyway), is Sherry. She's just kind of annoying, and I get the impression that she's a little too much of a wuss/cry baby.
I mean, I know she's only 12, and the situation is totally f**ked, but even then I think I'd be a lot tougher (even when I was 12). But anyway, since it is my favorite book, and it's a great one, it gets a 5/5 from me, perfect score.
