  • Graphics.
Simply put: amazing. I have yet to see a game with better graphics, honestly. I had seen pictures of the game before I bought it, of course, but it still blew my mind. The mansion is magnificent. Every part: the floors, stairs, doors, windows, and walls. The lighting and shadows are excellent, very detailed. The enemies look very realistic, as do the characters.

After however long it takes you, you enter the forest area. Creepy atmosphere makes it feel like your almost there. It gets your nerves going even when you know what's coming and if you've been through it before. One thing that really sticks out in my mind is when you have to go down into the crypt type place and place the death masks on the faces. Each time you place one, part of the coffin comes down and dried blood patters down onto the screen. Very cool.

When you get to the Residence, you also get to the Aqua Ring. You can see as the sharks swim after you, pumping you to move faster. The water is very realistic as you splash through it, ripples resonating from your movements. Plenty of blood when the sharks rip at your flesh, as expected. On slightly wet surfaces, you can see the water splash up slightly underfoot as you walk/run along. The Aqua Ring is one of my favorite places in the game, and if you're scared of sharks, be aware and careful.

Plant 42 is also great as its roots whip around, trying to get to you. It's realistic for something that seems so far-fetched, as do the other mini-bosses and regular enemies throughout the game. Yawn the snake is a perfect enemy, with big teeth and a huge body. Tyrant is the biggest and best boss in the looks department out of everything, though it is supposed to be. The graphics really make this creature come alive. From the white body, and giant claw, to the blood on its body and heart beating out of its chest. When he takes a swipe at ya, you better watch out.

The cutscenes are extraordinary as well. You can see real emotion cross the characters faces in certain sleect scenes, like Jill seeing Forest's dead body out on the balcony. Well, I think I've proved my point in the graphics section.

    Gameplay.
The controls are the usual for a Resident Evil game, only this time you can pick which type you like: Type A (default), Type B, or Type C. I personally wouldn't have anything but the regular controls, it's easy for me. And I hate when people say that the controls kind of ruin the experience, because they are so damn easy to learn, in my opinion at least. Now, in the beginning you can choose either Hiking or Mountaint Climbing; Hiking meaning Easy, and Mountain Climing meaning Normal. If this is your first time playing, Easy is recommened. Your next choice is between the characters; Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield.

Jill is the easier game, because she has 8 inventory spaces while Chris only has 6. They have different games, keep that in mind; not everything happens the same. After your choices have been seleceted, you'll find the reason (if you're new to the RE series) your team is headed into Raccoon Forest: Bravo teams helicopter is down, they were going to investigate the murders that have been recently plaguing Raccoon City. Anyway, once the cutscenes are done, you find that you will be in a certain position: holding your gun up while you walk, and down while you run. It's a defense stance. It'll be like that the whole game if you have a weapon equipped. Also, there are plenty of diiferent weapons for you enjoyment:

dagger (defense item), battery pack (Jill-defense), flash grenade (Chris-defense), self-defense gun (one shot), handgun, shotgun, assault shotgun, knife (worst wep in game), grenade launcher (Jill's game), Flamethrower (period of time in Chris's game), Magnum, and the Rocket Launcher at the end.

The game auto aims for you, so all you gotta do when you're ready to attack is hold down the 'R' button and press the action button to fire. And use your controls to shoot up, down or straight. Also, if you get poisoned by Yawn in Chris's game, you get to play with Rebecca Chambers momentarily. This game offers a lot, so I don't think you'll be disappointed. Test out the different control types, and pick the one that best fits your desires, and get ready to face a whole herd of different species of creatures.

    Sound.
The voice acting has been improved, to say the least. Now the characters mouths actually move with the words they're saying. Voices are better, period. And they improved the dialogue as well, which was a great thing. In the original it just sounds kinda...dumb. I think most people will agree to that. Now it just seems more...real. These are the things they would be saying if this really happened, though I would be cussing a whole lot more (I'm probably not the only one).

The sound of footsteps. When you're walking on wood, you can tell, and the sounds kind of echoes. When you come up on a rug or something like that, your footsteps get softer, the "thump" of your boots not as loud as before. A great thing to have in a game. It makes the atmosphere even more realistic. You notice a difference when you're walking or running on the outside as well, and in the forest. You can also hear the water underneath your feet as you step onto a wet walkway, like in the Aqua Ring. Also, when you're outside, you can hear the distant howls of dogs. Splendid indeed.

Resident Evil has always had great music, that's part of what makes it so great. The save room music, to music when you're in all kinds of different areas is perfect for the effects of this game. I always love the music while heading to the Aqua Ring, the music playing in the background while you push the three boxes into the water. It just does something to me. And when you're on the walkway in the Ring, and the music speeds up because the big ass shark is coming after ya, is priceless, and it every sound in this game makes for the perfect atmosphere around you.

    Replay Value.
Not much to say here, so let's get this done. The replay value for the Resident Evil remake is pretty good. It contains several different modes after beating it however many times in however many hours. Some people strive for getting a better and better time, which can be fun...and frustrating. But that's what this game is good for, after all. Also, the fact that it has 2 different characters and 3 different modes is probably gonna bring a lotta people back to playing it again. Either way, most people are gonna want to play this game more than once.

Graphics - I have praised them before, and I will again. They're great, and I'm being completely honest when I say that I haven't seen a game with better looks.
    .........................................................................................10.0......................................................................

Gameplay - I'll take in consideration that if the controls were like other games, it'd be easier, but REmake also has the option of using a different scheme.
    ...........................................................................................8.5.........................................................................

Sound - The music in this game is very nice. From the footstep sounds to the firing of bullets and such, to the music at different rooms and at bosses, the Resident Evil remake music is simply great, and very detailed.
    ...........................................................................................9.0......................................................................

Replay Value - There are multiple additional things and rewards to defeating this game several times, although some people might not bother with it.
    ...........................................................................................8.0......................................................................

Overall - Awesome graphics, excellent sound, good gameplay and decent replay value make this game a great additional to anyone's gaming collection.
