Main Characters - Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Rebecca Chambers, John Andrews, and David Trapp
Underworld takes place only a couple of weeks after RE2. At the end of City Of the Dead, Rebecca, David and John picked up Claire, Leon and Sherry because they spotted them walking out of the destroyed Raccoon City. They take Sherry somewhere safe, then make an appointment to fly to Europe in a private plane.
On the way to the plane, they get into a car chase with Umbrella people trying to run them off of the road. The group cause their pursuers to crash after a little while, and head to their destination. After being in flight not very long, a man comes out from where the pilot is.
His name is Trent, who is in the books, kind of like
a secret friend that they know nothing about. You learn about why he wants to take Umbrella down in the epologue of this book, so I won't come out and say it. Anyway, Trent tells them that Chris and the others are fine in Europe and that they should take the opportunity to take down an Umbrella facility in Utah.
They were hesitant,
but decided to go for it, because they needed to retrieve a little black book with Umbrella info from a man named Jay Reston. Once they get to the facility, not too long after Leon and John enter a secret elevator and are accidentally separated from the others.
After a little while, where Leon and John are, they are lured into a trap
by a man named Henry Cole, who had pretended to be Reston to help him out. But then, Reston turns his back on Cole, and him, John and Leon are put into a place with test subjects. There are four "environment", as they are called, each with different creatures. The first is like a forest, which as dactyle-type monsters.
The second is
a desert, which has giant scorpians. The third is a mountain environment, which has creatures that are a kind of cross between goats and a reptile, as described in the book. The last is like a city, with Hunters.
But while all this is going on, back on the surface, Claire, Rebecca and David heard a helicopter coming. They hid in the
dark, but were spotted. Rebecca gets a minor concussion when she falls, but they get out and away. But as Rebecca is climbing the fence, she gets shot towards her lower back, so David and Claire help her walk away from the facility until the people left.
The three of them eventually get down inside the place, where Leon and John had
gone to, but then Rebecca is taken hostage by Reston. John and Leon get out of the environments, but they lost Cole before they could get him out alive. Before he dies, however, he tells them that there is a huge monster called Fossil that would destroy the facility.
So they let the creature out, and looking for the way out and looking
for Reston at the same time. Then they see him wiht Rebecca on a monitor, and get to him, along with Claire and David. Reston throws her down and locks himself in the first environment. Leon and the others escape, but not before seeing Reston being killed by Fossil, and Rebecca had actually gotten his black book, but didnt tell them about
it yet. (yet meaning not until the book was over). Yes yes, Rebecca got a concussion, got shot, and got held hostage, but don't worry, she survived. Survivors - All main characters mentioned before the summary.
